Seven common normalization strategies are compared for unstopped citation tone F0 in the Chinese dialects of Shanghai, Cantonese, Fúzhōu and Zhāngzhōu. A z-score normalization is shown to give clearly superior clustering as quantified by normalization index, but no indication of superiority for a prior log transform of F0 is found.

We present results from an extensive parallel search for rank-1 lattice rules using the LLL-spectral test with a new normalization strategy which is proposed in [1]. We introduce the main concepts concerning lattice rules and the spectral test and motivate the new normalization strategy for this test. The concepts for parallelization are explained and some results conclude the article.

Let UZ(n) be the minimal rank of n-universal Z-lattices, by which we mean positive definite Z-lattices which represent all positive Z-lattices of rank n. It is a well known fact that UZ(n) = n + 3 for 1 ≤ n ≤ 5. In this paper, we determine UZ(n) and find all n-universal lattices of rank UZ(n) for 6 ≤ n ≤ 8.
