Introduction: Biodegradation of azo dyes under harsh environmental conditions has been of great interest for the treatment of colored effluents. The present study aims to evaluate Klebsiella quasipneumoniae GT7 for degrading azo dye Carmoisine under extreme pH conditions and high salinity. Materials and Methods: The growth profiles of bacteria were compared under different conditions of salini...

In food industry there are used substances from azoic dyes such as carmoisine and tartrazine. Therefore we decided to verify by a histological study, the effect of these two dyes, administered in drinking water in concentrations of 1, 2 and 3% for 3 weeks, on liver and kidney in guinea pigs. At the end of the experiment animals were euthanized and pieces of liver and kidneys were collected and ...

Built-in instruments are commonly employed in physics experiments. In this case, students usually unaware of the instrument’s fundamental physics. Here we constructed a simple and compact colorimeter. A light-emitting diode (LED) was used as light source. The detector circuit consists photoresistor, resistor, 9-V battery. During experiment, illuminated solution food coloring. transmitted measur...

Quantum dot (QD) conjugates have many immunohistochemical applications. The optical, excitation/emission, and photostable properties of QDs offer several advantages over the use of chromogens or organic fluorophores in these applications. Here, we describe the use of QD conjugates to detect primary antibody binding in fixed tissue sections. We also describe the use of QDs in simultaneous and se...

One of the troubles of using the endogenous creatinine clearance to measure the filtration rate is that plasma and serum contain chromogens, other than creatinine, which give a colour with the Jaffe reaction. The creatinine can, however, be isolated by adsorption on Fuller's earth (Gaebler and Keltch, 1928) and subsequently eluted with the alkaline picrate used for colour production (Borsook, 1...

A well-characterized three-chain peptide [(Col1)2 X T9] from human type III collagen was a rich source of Ehrlich chromogen. The corresponding two-chain peptide [(Col1)2] was not, implying that the Ehrlich chromogen is a trifunctional cross-link. (Col1)2 X T9 also contained pyridinoline, which is not an Ehrlich chromogen. The 7S domain of type IV collagen also contained an Ehrlich chromogen.

The Jaff#{232} reaction, used to determine creatinine in urine and plasma or serum, givesa positiveerror in the latter becauseof the interference of noncreatinine. In man (particularly children) endogenouscreatinine normally occurs at a relatively low concentration in serum (0.3-1.0 mg./100 ml.). The analytic error contributed by noncreatinine chromogens, therefore, may be considerable. Of vario...

-Forensic science laboratories in Maharashtra state regularly receiving number of duplicate foreign liquor samples under section 420 of IPC Act. The study was under taken to confirm these samples as per specifications of the manufacturer. It was found that illegal syndicates adjusted the percentage of alcohol up to standard specific value and used substandard coloring, flavoring and essential o...
