The regularized long wave equation (RLW) is solved numerically by using the quintic B-spline Galerkin finite element method. The same method is applied to the time-split RLW equation. Comparison is made with both analytical solutions and some previous results. Propagation of solitary waves, interaction of two solitons are studied. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. The generalized regularized long wave (GRLW) equation is solved numerically by using a distributed approximating functional (DAF) method realized by the regularized Hermite local spectral kernel. Test problems including propagation of single solitons, interaction of two and three solitons, and conservation properties of mass, energy, and momentum of the GRLW equation are discussed to test the e...

in this paper, the coupled dispersive (2+1)-dimensional long wave equation is studied. the traveling wave hypothesis yields complexiton solutions. subsequently, the wave equation is studied with power law nonlinearity where the ansatz method is applied to yield solitary wave solutions. the constraint conditions for the existence of solitons naturally fall out of the derivation of the soliton so...

We investigate the well-posedness of a class of nonlinear dispersive waves on trees, in connection with the mathematical modeling of the human cardiovascular system. Specifically, we study the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (BBM) equation, also known as the regularized long wave equation, posed on finite trees, together with standard junction and terminal boundary conditions. We prove that the Cauchy pro...

In this work, we extended the application of ”the modified reductive perturbation method” to symmetrical regularized long waves with quadratic nonlinearity and obtained various form of KdV equations as the governing equations. Seeking a localized travelling wave solutions to these evolution equations we determined the scale parameters g1 and g2 so as to remove the possible secularities that mig...
