In a recent paper [1], Giannetti considered the thermal noise generated by a resistor R on a generic output port in any linear network. He reasoned that, because the contribution of the thermal noise of the resistor to the output noise of the circuit vanishes for both R! 0 and R ! 1, there should be a resistor value whose contribution to the output noise is maximal. In order to find that value,...

The inrush current is a transient current that results from a sudden change in the exciting voltage across a transformer’s windings. It may cause inadvertent operation of the protective relay system and necessitate strengthening of the transformer’s mechanical structure. Many methods were reported in the literatures for reduction and mitigation of transformer inrush currents. This paper represe...

In this study, a novel floating frequency dependent negative resistor (FDNR), floating inductor, floating capacitor and floating resistor simulator circuit employing two CBTAs and three passive components is proposed. The presented circuit can realize floating FDNR, inductor, capacitor or resistor depending on the passive component selection. Since the passive elements are all grounded, this ci...

Animal viruses (e.g., lentiviruses and herpesviruses) use transcriptional positive feedback (i.e., transactivation) to regulate their gene expression. But positive-feedback circuits are inherently unstable when turned off, which presents a particular dilemma for latent viruses that lack transcriptional repressor motifs. Here we show that a dissipative feedback resistor, composed of enzymatic in...

There have been many investigations of the mutual synchronization of oscillators. In this study we consider N oscillators which have the same natural frequency, mutually coupled by one negative resistor. In this system, according to the negative range of the coupling negative resistor, we can observe various interesting synchronization phenomena. Because this system tends to minimize the power ...

Abstract— In this study, synchronization phenomena observed in van der Pol oscillators coupled by a fifth-power nonlinear resistor are investigated. By carrying out computer simulations, interesting synchronization phenomena can be confirmed to be generated in this system. Namely, the synchronization states change according to the coupling strength and nonlinearity of the coupling resistor.

This study is the first to demonstrate characteristics optimization of nanowire resistance load inverter. Noise margins and inflection voltage of transfer characteristics are used as limiting factors in this optimization. Results indicate that optimization depends on resistance value. Increasing of load resistor tends to increasing in noise margins until saturation point, increasing load resist...

Hybrid nanoelectronics consisting of nanodevice crossbars on top of CMOS backplane circuits is emerging as one viable option to sustain Moore's law after the CMOS scaling limit is reached. One main design challenge in such hybrid nanoelectronics is the interface between the highly dense nanowires in nanodevice crossbars and relatively coarse microwires in the CMOS domain. Such an interface can ...
