Virtual Teams (VTs) offer great advantages but have different challenges compared with co-located teams. This study explores using blogs and email to see if improvements can be made to virtual team effectiveness. This preliminary study is qualitative in nature and uses a quasi-experiment to compare 2 teams performing the same project; one uses email while the other uses a blog tool. Once the pr...
Contextual comparison of discovered patterns deals with the interpretation of outputs from data mining algorithms. The vehicle provided to perform such operations is that of contextual interestingness, which allows the allocation of importance and direction to each attribute in a result set. Applying these mechanisms it is not only possible to detect trends in results across time, but also to c...
Networked and local data exploration systems that use command languages, menus, or form ® ll-in interfaces rarely give users an indication of the distribution of data. This often leads users to waste time, posing queries that have zero-hit or mega-hit results. Query previews are a novel visual approach for browsing databases. Query previews supply users with data distribution information for se...
the present study was conducted to investigate the role of summary in teaching grammar process on pre-university students. to this end, 48 male pre-university students in semnan were participants. they were math class that we called experimental group and science class as control group. in order to make sure there was no significant difference in proficiency level of two groups. a pre-test wa...
Given a query location Q in multi-dimensional space, the classical KNN problem is to return the K spatially closest answers in the database with respect to Q. The KNDN (K-Nearest Diverse Neighbor) problem is a semantic extension where the objective is to return the spatially closest result set such that each answer is sufficiently different, or diverse, from the rest of the answers. We review h...
In this paper; we illustrate how Internet documents can be automatically analyzed in order to identih the document’s language. This language knowledge is then used for the Internet search engine, GETESS. The aim of the language-classijication heuristics is to ensure that documents with the same content, but different languages (e.g. , in German and English), will not simultaneously presented to...
Relying purely on query-page similarity when ranking Web search results limits the scope of the result set to the detriment of search performance. In this paper we propose that introducing diversity into the ranking metric can increase topic coverage without adversely affecting result relevance in the face of vague queries.

Previous study has shown that mining frequent patterns with length-decreasing support constraint is very helpful in removing some uninteresting patterns based on the observation that short patterns will tend to be interesting if they have a high support, whereas long patterns can still be very interesting even if their support is relatively low. However, a large number of non-closed (i.e., redu...
