The antifungal effect of 10 plant extracts viz., Thevetia peruviana, Ocimum basilicum, Piper betel, Murraya koenigii, Chrysanthemum coronarium, Polyalthia longifolia, Catharanthus roseus, Pelargonium graveolens, Moringa officinalis and Lawsonia inermis were evaluated by poisoned food technique against Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn, the causal organism of sore shin disease of tobacco. Among all the pl...

Rhizoctonia solani and R. oryzae are the principal causal agents of Rhizoctonia root rot in dryland cereal production systems of the Pacific Northwest. To facilitate the identification and quantification of these pathogens in agricultural samples, we developed SYBR Green I-based real-time quantitative-polymerase chain reaction (Q-PCR) assays specific to internal transcribed spacers ITS1 and ITS...

Rhizoctonia solani represents an important plant pathogenic Basidiomycota species complex and the host of many different mycoviruses, as indicated by frequent detection of dsRNA elements in natural populations of the fungus. To date, eight different mycoviruses have been characterized in Rhizoctonia and some of them have been reported to modulate its virulence. DsRNA extracts of the avirulent R...

Chemical fungicides are used worldwide for enhance crop yield and control plant diseases. When crops are treated with chemical fungicides over a long period then some fungi develop resistance to these chemicals beside this these chemicals are harmful to other non target microorganism and disturb microbial community of soil. In view of these facts, it is urgent need to discover eco friendly, ren...

in this study, 99 isolates of rhizoctonia were recovered from root and crown samples of pistachio seedlings, and soil samples were collected from major pistachio orchards in kerman province. results revealed that 96 isolates were multinucleate and 3 binucleate. mnr belonged to ag-4. results of the pathogenicity tests carried out in the greenhouse, using pistachio isolates, revealed that all mn...

The soil fungus Rhizoctonia solani is a pathogen of agricultural crops. Here, we report on the 51,705,945 bp draft consensus genome sequence of R. solani strain Rhs1AP. A comprehensive understanding of the heterokaryotic genome complexity and organization of R. solani may provide insight into the plant disease ecology and adaptive behavior of the fungus.

Rhizoctonia blight is a common and serious disease of many turfgrass species. The most widespread causal agent, Thanatephorus cucumeris (anamorph: R. solani), consists of several genetically different subpopulations. In addition, Waitea circinata varieties zeae, oryzae and circinata (anamorph: Rhizoctonia spp.) also can cause the disease. Accurate identification of the causal pathogen is import...

Rhizoctonia solani causes crown rot of sugar beets, a severe disease that has destroyed up to 60% of the plants in a test field in western Nebraska. Laetisaria arvalis, a natural hyperparasite of Rhizoctonia spp., was isolated from fields in western Nebraska. To test for the potential for biological control of R. solani, in November 1980 (following harvest) we applied various combinations of a ...
