Ding dongmerrily on high, goes the famous Christmas carol, but for some of the United Kingdom’s 40 000 campanologists the bells have not been ringing so merrily. Instead, church bell ringers have this year been complaining of a disorder that has been forcing them to abandon their towers and steeples and seek out hypnotherapists and counsellors in search of a cure. Symptoms include vertigo, a se...

The exponential application of mobile technology has led to a concern about implications of electromagnetic radiation on human health. As we are aware that mobile phone radiates EMR when users communicate to others and that time subscribers of the device are regularly exposed nearby 40% 50% of total mobile irradiation. We analyzed the risk of “Ringing Delusion” among normal users, moderate user...

Confocal microscopes (CM) are routinely used for building 3-D images of microscopic structures. Nonideal imaging conditions in a white-light CM introduce additive noise and blur. The optical section images need to be restored prior to quantitative analysis. We present an adaptive noise filtering technique using Karhunen-Loéve expansion (KLE) by the method of snapshots and a ringing metric to qu...

BACKGROUND Phantom vibration syndrome is a type of hallucination reported among mobile phone users in the general population. Another similar perception, phantom ringing syndrome, has not been previously described in the medical literature. METHODS A prospective longitudinal study of 74 medical interns (46 males, 28 females; mean age, 24.8±1.2 years) was conducted using repeated investigation...

Cochlear microphonic potentials (CMs) were recorded from the sharply tuned, strongly resonant auditory foveae of 1- to 5-week-old mustached bats that were anesthetized with Rompun and Ketavet. The fovea processes Doppler-shifted echo responses of the constant-frequency component of echolocation calls. During development, the frequency and tuning sharpness of the cochlear resonance increases, an...

This paper explores the influence of the ringing phenomena on the sustain waveform for AC PDP. We also announce a new circuit to improve the prior sustain circuit by reducing the ringing phenomena and thus get better performance such as increasing the operating margin, the luminous efficiency, the contrast ratio and decreasing the power dissipation.
