Xiong et al. presented a translationand scale-invariant adaptive wavelet transform. We show that their renormalized signal (pre-wavelet transform) is already translation- and scale-invariant. Thus, it is not just invariant under the wavelet transform. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for renormalized signals to be affine transform invariant.

Color image enhancement is a very important pre-processing stage in face detection and face recognition applications especially when the environment is very dark. In this paper, a color color image enhancement with the adaptive filter and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is proposed. Discrete wavelet transform is used to improve image enhancement and stationary wavelet transform is used to redu...

An effective rotation and scale invariant log-polar wavelet texture feature for image retrieval was proposed. The feature extraction process involves a log-polar transform followed by an adaptive row shift invariant wavelet packet transform. The log-polar transform converts a given image into a rotation and scale invariant but rowshifted image, which is then passed to the adaptive row shift inv...

In this paper, we present an object-based coding scheme using three-dimensional shape-adaptive discrete wavelet transforms (SA-DWT). Rather than straightforward extension of 2D SA-DWT, a novel way to handle the temporal wavelet transform using a motion model is proposed to achieve higher coding efficiency. Corresponding to this transform scheme, we use a 3D entropy coding algorithm called Motio...

In this paper we have proposed an object tracking method using Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DTCxWT). The proposed method is capable of tracking the moving object in video sequences. The object is assumed to be deformable under limit i.e. it may change its shape from one frame to another. The basic idea in the proposed method is to decompose the image into two components: a two dimension...

An adaptive numerical method for solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation is presented. By using an interpolating wavelet transform the number of used points can be reduced, constructing an adaptive sparse point representation. Two di erent discretisation approaches are studied in 1D ; one point-based and one based on equidistant blocks. Due to the nature of the wavelet transform a s...

In this paper, we propose a method of classification of image by combining wavelet transform and neural network. Our main objective in this work is to achieve an optimal approach of classification by combining wavelet transform and neural network. The proposed scheme for successful classification is combination of a wavelet domain feature extractor and back propagation neural networks (BPNN) cl...

Sparse approximation has shown to be a significant tool in improving image restoration quality, assuming that the targeted images can be approximately sparse under some transform operators. However, it is impossible for a fixed system to be always optimal for all the images. In this paper, we present an adaptive wavelet tight frame technology for sparse representation of an image with multiplic...

Image registration has great significance in medicine, astrophotography and satellite imaging, so a lot of techniques have been developed within its perspective of one or the other discipline. This paper presents a method for medical image registration of multimodal brain images using Modified Adaptive Polar Transform (MAPT). This algorithm can be used to register images of the same or differen...

Extraction of atrial activity (AA) is quite important in the study of different atrial arrhythmias. This work shows the possibility of AA extraction from Atrial Fibrilation (AF) episodes in Holter registers using only one lead with a new technique, the adaptive wavelet analysis (AWA). The principal aim is to adapt automatically the Discrete Packet Wavelet Transform (DPWT) depending on the shape...
