I the vehicle routing problem (VRP) the objective is to construct a minimum cost set of routes serving all customers where the demand of each customer is less than or equal to the vehicle capacity and where each customer is visited once. In the split delivery vehicle routing problem (SDVRP) the restriction that each customer is visited once is removed. We show that the cost savings that can be ...

The Split Delivery Vehicle Routing Problem (SDVRP) is a relaxation of the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) where customers may be assigned to multiple routes. A new construction heuristic is developed for the SDVRP and computational results are given for thirty-two data sets from previous literature. With respect to the total travel distance, the construction heuristic compares favora...

The Split Delivery Vehicle Routing Problem (SDVRP) allows customers to be assigned to multiple routes. Two hybrid genetic algorithms are developed for the SDVRP and computational results are given for thirty-two data sets from previous literature. With respect to the total travel distance and computer time, the genetic algorithm compares favorably versus a column generation method and a two-pha...

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS While working on my Ph.D. at Georgia Tech and Michigan, I have received a great deal of support from many different people. My degree would not have been possible without this support. I would like to begin by thanking my two dissertation advisors, Dr. Ozlem Ergun and Dr. Chip White. Their guidance and encouragement was constant and unwavering. They helped open the door for me ...

This paper presents an algorithm to obtain lower bounds for the Split Delivery Vehicle Routing Problem. An extended formulation over a large set of variables is provided and valid inequalities are identified. The algorithm combines column and cut generation and was able to improve the lower bound for almost all instances tested.

Abstract In the classic Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) a fleet of of vehicles has to visit a set of customers while minimising the operations’ costs. We study a rich variant of the VRP featuring split deliveries, an heterogeneous fleet, and vehiclecommodity incompatibility constraints. Our goal is twofold: define the cheapest routing and the most adequate fleet. To do so, we split the problem in...

In large-scale emergency, the vehicle routing problem focuses on finding the best routes for vehicles. The equitable distribution has a vital role in this problem to decrease the number of death and save people's lives. In addition to this, air pollution is a threat to people’s life and it can be considered to omit other kinds of disasters happens because of it. So, a new MINLP model presented ...

A three-level relief chain including a number of suppliers in fixed locations, candidate distribution centers and affected areas at certain points are considered. A mixed integer nonlinear programming model is proposed for open transportation location routing problem by considering split delivery of demand. To solve a realistic problem, foregoing parameters are considered as fuzzy in our propos...
