In the title compound, C(10)H(13)NO(3)S, the N-H and C=O bonds in the SO(2)-NH-CO-C segment are anti to each other. The benzene ring and the SO(2)-NH-CO-C segment form a dihedral angle of 87.4 (1)°. The crystal packing features inversion-related dimers linked by pairs of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
The in vitro interaction of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole on clinical isolates of Paracoccidioides brasiliensis was studied. With complete inhibition and a visual endpoint used as the criteria, three of four strains had minimal inhibitory concentrations that indicated resistance to sulfamethoxazole, and all four strains were resistant to trimethoprim. A marked synergism in inhibition was no...
In the title compound, [Co(C(20)H(18)P)I(C(3)H(9)P)(2)], the Co(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, the base of which is comprised of two trans PMe(3) groups, an I atom, and a C atom of the benzyl group. This benzyl group is tethered to the P atom at the apex of the pyramid, thereby forming a five-membered chelated Co-C-C-C-P ring.

We compared the susceptibility of 312 extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Enterobacteriaceae isolates with that of 1,216 ESBL nonproducers. Of ESBL producers, 25% were susceptible to gentamicin, 30% to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, 41% to ciprofloxacin, and 60% to piperacillin-tazobactam. ESBL nonproducers were more often susceptible to these agents. ESBL-producing Enterobacteria...
The efficacy of ciprofloxacin and moxifloxacin against Nocardia brasiliensis was evaluated by applying 25 mg of each drug/kg subcutaneously every 8 h in BALB/c mice infected with N. brasiliensis. A statistically significant difference was observed only with moxifloxacin. A moxifloxacin-trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole combination was as active as when each compound was used alone.
