The DNA core of adenovirus contains two basic polypeptides V and VII. The major core polypeptide VII (M, = 18,000) is histone-like and has been shown to be derived from a larger polypeptide Pro-VII (M, = 20,000) (Anderson, C. W.. Baum, P. R., and Gesteland, R. F. (1973) J. Virol. 12, 241). Chemical studies were initiated to investigate the processing of P-VII (Pro-VII) to VII in molecular detai...

The beet yellows closterovirus leader proteinase (L-Pro) possesses a C-terminal proteinase domain and a nonproteolytic N-terminal domain. It was found that although L-Pro is not essential for basal-level replication, deletion of its N-terminal domain resulted in a 1, 000-fold reduction in RNA accumulation. Mutagenic analysis of the N-terminal domain revealed its structural flexibility except fo...

OBJECTIVES This study aimed to investigate the clinical correlation between angiographic coronary atherosclerosis and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide along with other known correlated factors. METHODS In total, 153 patients with a diagnostic hypothesis of stable angina, unstable angina or acute myocardial infarction were classified as group A (patients with angiographically normal c...

Antibodies specific for the amino- and carboxy-terminal portions of simian virus 40 large tumor (T) antigen were obtained by immunization of rabbits with synthetic peptides corresponding to these regions. The amino-terminal synthetic peptide has the sequence Ac-Met-Asp-Lys-Val-Leu-Asn-Arg-(Tyr). The tyrosine residue was introduced in order to couple the peptide to bovine serum albumin with bis-...

Among three biologically active substrates of angiotensin-converting enzyme, enzyme-binding affinities increase and chloride ion rate enhancements decrease in the following order: angiotensin I (Asp-Arg-Val-TyrIle-His-Pro-Phe-His-Leu), bradykinin (Arg-Pro-ProGly-Phe-Ser-Pro-Phe-Arg), bradykinin-potentiating peptide 5, (<Glu-Lys-Trp-Ala-Pro). Qualitatively simil a r properties are observed among...

The amino acid sequence of the C-terminal tryptic peptide of pooled water-buffalo immunoglobulin lambda chains was determined as Thr-Val-Lys-Pro-Ser-Glu-Cys-Pro-Ser. This sequence is closely homologous to equivalent sequences from other species, but shows an additional amino acid on the C-terminal side of the interchain half-cystine residue.
