Background and objective: Tetracyclines are the second most used group of antibiotics in the world. This type of antibiotic has a weak attraction in the body and enters wastewater through urine and feces. This study investigated the effectiveness of tetracycline removal from wastewater by air-cathode microbial fuel cells. Materials and methods: The current study was bench-scale experimental re...

Wen, L.-M., Xu, P., Benegal, G., Carvaho, M. R. C., Butler, D. R., and Buck, G. A. 2001. Trypanosoma cruzi: Exogenously regulated gene expression. Experimental Parasitology 97, 196–204. A regulated expression vector would provide a strong tool for the dissection of gene function in Trypanosoma cruzi. Herein, we establish a system in which genes in T. cruzi expression vectors can be exogenously ...

Tetracycline blocks stable binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the bacterial ribosomal A-site. Various tetracycline binding sites have been identified in crystals of the 30S ribosomal small subunit of Thermus thermophilus. Here we describe a direct photo- affinity modification of the ribosomal small subunits of Escherichia coli with 7-[3H]-tetracycline. To select for specific interactions, an excess o...

conclusions tetracycline resistance is widespread among uropathogenic e. coli isolates from human infections. moreover, the distribution of tetracycline resistance determinants among the studied e. coli was very similar to the findings of the international sourced gallery of clinical e. coli strains. background uropathogenic escherichia coli is one of the most prevalent infectious agents in hum...

Eighty-one strains ofStaphylococcus aureus that appeared to be tetracycline resistant on the basis of a preliminary disc-diffusion test were examined fro resistance to tetracycline and to the semi-synthetic tetracycline, minocycline. Minimum inhibitory concentration (m.i.c.) values for both drugs were determined after induction of the strains by growth for 2 h in sub-inhibitory concentrations f...

The microorganisms have been usual noted as the major cause of delayed wound healing. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the most common pathogen causing these infections. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) show ample antibacterial activities. In present study, the effect of AgNPs alone and in combination with tetracycline investigated on inoculated wounds with Pseudomonas aeruginosa in mice. Twenty mice anes...

BACKGROUND: Avian Colibacillosis can lead to important economic losses in the poultry industry. Escherichia coli the causative agent of this disease has acquired resistance to different antibiotics, including tetracycline. OBJECTIVES: This study was carried out to detect the distribution of tetracycline Group І efflux genes genes among E.coli isolates from from avian colibacillosis in Iran by P...

The triple-base-pair 16S rDNA mutation AGA(926-928)-->TTC mediates high-level tetracycline resistance in Helicobacter pylori. In contrast, single- and double-base-pair mutations mediated only low-level tetracycline resistance and decreased growth rates in the presence of tetracycline, explaining the preference for the TTC mutation in tetracycline-resistant H. pylori isolates.

OBJECTIVE To demonstrate the association between tetracycline treatment and pseudotumor cerebri (PTC). METHODS Consecutive patients from two neuro-ophthalmic referral centers, who developed PTC syndrome post-treatment with tetracycline, were enrolled and followed for a minimum of 2 years after cessation of tetracycline. RESULTS A total of 243 consecutive patients were diagnosed with PTC; 18...

The mechanism of tetracycline resistance was examined in strains containing each of the three previously identified resistance determinants in Streptococcus spp. Uptake of tetracycline was measured in tetracycline-sensitive cells as well as in cells containing each of the three resistance determinants. In cells containing tetL, uptake was not observed. However, in sensitive cells and cells cont...
