Some organotin(IV) and tin(II) complexes of composition R(3)Sn[R'COC:CON(C(6)H(5))N:CCH(3)] (where R=C(4)H(9), R'=CH(3), C(3)H(5), p-ClC(6)H(4); R=C(6)H(5), R'=C(6)H(5) and p-ClC(6)H(4)) and Sn[p-ClC(6)H(4)COC:CON(C(6)H(5))N:CCH(3)](2) were screened for their toxicity against Aedes aegypti larvae. Organotin(IV) complexes were more active than tin(II) complexes.
The identity of the predominating tin(ii)-hydroxide complex formed in hyper-alkaline aqueous solutions (0.2 ≤CNaOH≤ 12 mol dm(-3)) is determined by potentiometric titrations, Raman, Mössbauer and XANES spectroscopy, supplemented by quantum chemical calculations. Thermodynamic studies using a H2/Pt electrode up to free hydroxide concentrations of 1 mol dm(-3) showed the presence of a single mono...
Thin-film solar cells made from earth-abundant, inexpensive, and non-toxic materials are needed to replace the current technologies whose widespread use is limited by their use of scarce, costly, and toxic elements. Tin monosulfide (SnS) is a promising candidate for making absorber layers in scalable, inexpensive, and non-toxic solar cells. SnS has always been observed to be a p-type semiconduc...
The title compound, [Sn(H2O)3](ClO4)2, was synthesized by the redox reaction of copper(II) perchlorate hexa-hydrate and metallic tin in perchloric acid. Both the trigonal-pyramidal [Sn(H2O)3](2+) cations and tetra-hedral perchlorate anions lie on crystallographic threefold axes. In the crystal, the cations are linked to the anions by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating (001) sheets.
Ever since their first synthesis in 1974 monomeric tin(II) and lead(II) amides have attracted con siderable interest as a consequence of their carbenoid electronic structure [1 6]. Although the sub stituents at the nitrogen atoms have been varied to some extent, N-dialkylboryl groups have received only scant attention. One attempt to use a N-dimethylboryl group has afforded a dimer after elim...
Periodic-boundary and cluster calculations of the magnetic-shielding tensors of (119)Sn sites in various co-ordination and stereochemical environments are reported. The results indicate a significant difference between the predicted NMR chemical shifts for tin(ii) sites that exhibit stereochemically-active lone pairs and tin(iv) sites that do not have stereochemically-active lone pairs. The pre...
A simple deep eutectic solvent based on tin (II) chloride was used as a dual catalyst and environmentally benign reaction medium for an efficient synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one derivatives, from aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, and urea in good-to-excellent yields and short reaction time. This simple ammonium deep eutectic solvent, easily synthesized from...
A detailed physicochemical properties of aqueous solutions of alizarin red S - tin (II) chloride, has been thoroughly investigated by extensively exploring the effect of pH, concentration and temperature on the optimal conditions for the formation of tin (II)-alizarin red S (ARS-Sn II) complex. UV-Vis spectra, electrical conductivity and pH method were also used to characterize the final produc...
The reaction of a terphenyl tin(ii) compound bearing an η(3) coordinating allyl ligand with adamantyl phosphaalkyne is reported. The quantitative stochiometric reaction towards one product involves an addition of one Sn-Ar bond across the C[triple bond, length as m-dash]P triple bond and formation of a phosphadistannacyclobutene ring. This kinetically favoured product can be isolated in the sol...
