Receptors encoded within the Natural Killer Cell (NKC) complex and Killer Immunoglobulin like (KIRs) genomic regions have been suggested to influence malaria pathogenesis and infection susceptibility. We have examined KIR locus in relation to risk of infection and disease in Tea tribes (TT) of Austro Asiatic affinity and Tibeto-Burman (TB) populations from malaria endemic regions of Assam. Cons...
The distribution of β-globin gene haplotypes was studied in 209 Amerindians from eight tribes of the Brazilian Amazon: Asurini from Xingú, Awá-Guajá, Parakanã, Urubú-Kaapór, Zoé, Kayapó (Xikrin from the Bacajá village), Katuena, and Tiriyó. Nine different haplotypes were found, two of which (n. 11 and 13) had not been previously identified in Brazilian indigenous populations. Haplotype 2 (+ -) ...
The south Indian State of Karnataka, once part of several kingdoms and princely states of repute in the Deccan peninsula, is rich in its historic, cultural and anthropological heritage. The State is the home to 42,48,987 tribal people, of whom 50,870 belong to the primitive group. Although these people represent only 6.95 per cent of the population of the State, there are as many as 50 differen...
We report the phylogenetic utility of the nuclear gene encoding the long-wavelength opsin (LW Rh) for tribes of bees. Aligned nucleotide sequences were examined in multiple taxa from the four tribes comprising the corbiculate bees within the subfamily Apinae. Phylogenetic analyses of sequence variation in a 502-bp fragment (approx 40% of the coding region) strongly supported the monophyly of ea...
Central India, which constitutes mainly of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and its adjoining area, holds 23% of the total population of the country. Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh has about 46 Scheduled Tribes of which 7 of them are declared as primitive tribes. The primitive tribes are Saharias of Chambal division, Bharias of Patalkot, Baigas of Baigachak area, Hill Korbas and Birhors of Sarguja...
Salmonella enteritidis, serotype Horsham, identified rarely worldwide, was isolated from the stools of six American Indians with gastroenteritis. The patients were from separate tribes located in three geographically distinct villages. Although significant contact was demonstrated between ill individuals within two tribes, no common source for the organism has been identified.
S1 Fig. Original Fig 1 – Phylogenetic hypotheses (redrawn) of the relationships among the LT species flock and other representatives of the East African Radiation (EAR). Tribes with ambiguous placement are highlighted as follows: most ancient Tanganyika tribes (continuous line); Eretmodini (dashed line); haplochromine lineages (dotted line). Numbers in brackets correspond to the number of indiv...
A new genus and species of Lamprosomatinae, Cachiporra extremaglobosa Chamorro & Konstantinov, is described from Brazil. A new tribe, Cachiporrini, is proposed. The first phylogenetic analysis of Lamprosomatinae based on adult morphological caharacters is conducted. Comparisons are made among lamprosomatine tribes and genera. A key to tribes is provided.
Public art studies in Iran are severely in interact with discourses of cultural identity. Among them, oral literature due to the verbal indicator and including different fields of historical, social and cultural is an appropriate basis for doing such researches. Singing during carpet weaving is common in the most areas of Iran, but singing during carpet weaving among the Ghashghaei tribes can b...
The family Zopheridae Solier, 1834 has a worldwide distribution and includes 1700 species and 190 genera (Ślipiński et al. 2011) in two subfamilies (Bouchard et al. 2011): Colydiinae Billberg, 1820 (cylindrical bark beetles, 9 tribes) and Zopherinae Solier, 1834 (ironclad beetles, 6 tribes). Zopheridae occur throughout forested areas of the world. Although many species inhabit the tropics, the ...
