A current reused low-noise amplifier (LNA) with gain compensated to extend the bandwidth and is designed for ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless receiver. The design consists of two cascode common-source amplifier and an output buffer which is implemented in 0.18um RF CMOS process. The LNA gives 13.1dB gain; 9.1GHz 3dB bandwidth (3.1-12.2GHz) while consuming 13.9mW through a 1.8V supply. Over the 3.1...

The performance of an ultra-wideband multipleinput-multiple-output (MIMO) communications system is experimentally evaluated. Using 3x3 indoor channel measurements, it is demonstrated that the MIMO subchannels are highly uncorrelated, with correlation coefficients lower than 0.45. Eigenvalue decomposition further confirms the channel independence. A linear gain in outage capacity is demonstrated...

A microstrip ultra-wideband (UWB) filter with unique shape, compactness, simplicity of operation and flexible notch characteristics is introduced. It is based on the fundamental and harmonic characteristics of a 50 Ohm transmission line that is grounded at both ends. The filter possesses design flexibility in the sense that it can operate as a stand-alone UWB component or include simple additio...

─ A novel ultra-wideband (UWB) out-ofphase four-way power divider is presented. To achieve a division over a large frequency range, Tjunctions formed by slotlines and microstrip lines are utilized. Based on the transmission-line equivalent-circuit method, we derive the design equations of the proposed power divider. Furthermore, all measured results are in good agreement with the predicted desi...

As wireless communication applications require more and more bandwidth, the demand for wideband antennas increases as well. For instance, the ultra wideband radio (UWB) utilizes the frequency band of 3.1-10.6 GHz .In this paper we introduce a new multilayer microstrip antenna for ultra wideband applications. In order to achieve suitable bandwidth, the antenna size is fine for mobile application...

This paper presents a new ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filter (BPF) with sharp roll-off and dual-notched bands. The filter consists of a triangle ring multi-mode resonator (MMR) with the stub-loaded resonator (SLR) for controlling the two transmission zeros at 2.8 / 11 GHz, the embedded open-circuited stub and the asymmetric tight coupled input/output (I/O) lines for introducing the dual notch...

Ultra Wideband (UWB) systems are receiving recently more attention due to its approval by FCC. The systems that have been already implemented are based in analog correlation. This thesis is part of an effort to implement a wholly digital Ultra Wideband receiver. Synchronization of a signal is a first step to perform the correct demodulation of the data contained in it. It is a problem whose com...

The central challenge of ultra-wideband (UWB) radio is to overcome its intrinsic complexity. This paper argues for the use of high-speed sampling and a front-end FFT as the paradigm of choice for robust performance and low energy consumption in certain ultra-wideband designs. Assuming the need to approach optimal performance, it highlights the complexity advantage of frequency domain (FD) over ...

In this paper, three new ultra wideband (UWB) communication systems with quadrature-phase shift keying (QPSK) impulse modulation are proposed. First, direct-sequence (DS) multiple-access scheme is applied. The second proposed system is based on time-hopping (TH) multiple-access scheme. The last proposed system applies TH multipleaccess scheme with QPSK impulse modulation and pulse position modu...
