The DESIRS beamline of the SOLEIL synchrotron facility, equipped with a vacuum ultraviolet Fourier-Transform spectrometer has been used to measure Q(N ′′) (N−N ′′ = 0) absorption transitions of the D2 molecule. Some 212Q-lines were assigned and their transition frequencies determined up to excitation energies of 137000 cm−1 above the
Absorption spectra (150-300 nm) of TiO2 and TiO2 modified with metal (Pt, Pd, and Au) nanoparticles were systematically measured using an attenuated total reflection-far ultraviolet spectrometer. The deposition of metal nanoparticles altered the spectral shape and intensity, indicating changes in the electronic states and photocatalytic activities of TiO2.
The Ultraviolet and Visible Spectrometer (UVIS) instrument development process requires the construction of an atmospheric model to provide synthetic UV transmission spectra. We discuss the requirements of the model to enable observational limits to be found, and the potential for certain atmospheric parameters to be further constrained.
A split-pulse spectrometer based on pairs of time-delayed femtosecond pulses can give access to accurate frequency measurements in the extreme ultraviolet (XUV) spectral domain. We demonstrate this approach by measuring the absolute frequency of a single-XUV-photon transition to a bound state of atomic argon excited with the ninth harmonic of an amplified Ti:sapphire laser.

We report on the development of a low-cost spectrometer, based on off-the-shelf optical components, a 3D printed housing, and a modified Raspberry Pi camera module. With a bandwidth and spectral resolution of ≈60 nm and 1 nm, respectively, this device was designed for ultraviolet (UV) remote sensing of atmospheric sulphur dioxide (SO2), ≈310 nm. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first...
A spectrometer for the measurement of spontaneous Rayleigh-Brillouin (RB) scattering line profiles at ultraviolet wavelengths from gas phase molecules has been developed, employing a high-power frequency-stabilized UV-laser with narrow bandwidth (2 MHz). The UV-light from a frequency-doubled titanium:sapphire laser is further amplified in an enhancement cavity, delivering a 5 W UV-beam propagat...

We constructed the first deep ultraviolet (UV) Raman standoff wide-field imaging spectrometer. Our novel deep UV imaging spectrometer utilizes a photonic crystal to select Raman spectral regions for detection. The photonic crystal is composed of highly charged, monodisperse 35.5 ± 2.9 nm silica nanoparticles that self-assemble in solution to produce a face centered cubic crystalline colloidal a...
We present a novel technique for retrieving ozone (O3) profiles and especially tropospheric O3 from airborne UV/visible spectrometer measurements. This technique utilizes radiance spectra from one down-looking and two up-looking (85 degrees and 75 degrees) directions, taking advantage of the O3 absorption structure in the Huggins (300-340-nm) and Chappuis (530-650-nm) bands. This technique is e...
