Fenestration of the vertebral artery is a rare vascular anomaly that has been observed at autopsy and on angiography. It is most commonly seen in the extracranial segments of the vertebral artery. This congenital anomaly can arise during multiple different stages of embryological development of the vertebral artery. The clinical significance is unclear, but multiple studies have reported associ...
Vascular anomalies are heterogeneous group of congenital lesions of abnormal vascular devel‐ opment and may occur anywhere on the body. There is a primary distinction between a vascu‐ lar tumor, which grows by cellular hyperplasia, and a vascular malformation, which represents a localized defect in vascular morphogenesis. Due to the differences in biologic be‐ havior and radiographic features, ...
Aberrant internal carotid artery (ICA) is a rare but a very important vascular anomaly of temporal bone. Misdiagnosis of the anomaly may lead to massive hemorrhage and severe complications during otologic procedures. It is essential to keep this anomaly in mind for any otologic surgeon to prevent catastrophic complications. We present a case of aberrant ICA appeared as a nonpulsatile middle ear...
Spontaneous asymptomatic intrahepatic portosystemic shunt is a rare anomaly of the hepatic vasculature. The main clinical manifestations may be encephalopathy, bleeding or hyperinsulinism, due to constant shedding blood. This article presents case an congenital shunt, found in patient I., aged 25, with results various imaging methods, as well analysis types described vascular anomaly.
Inferior laryngeal nerve (ILN), which usually arises from vagus nerve, runs recurrent course and is called recurrent ILN (RILN). Intimate knowledge of normal and anatomic variants of the ILN reduces the risk of nerve injury and vocal cord paralysis in thyroid and parathyroid surgery. The nonrecurrent ILN (NRILN) is a rare nerve anomaly that is associated with a right aberrant subclavian artery....
Introduction: Double aortic arch (DAA) is a congenital anomaly of the aortic arch. It is the most common type of complete vascular ring. When it occurs, the connected segment of the aortic arch and its branches encircle the trachea and esophagus, leading to symptoms related to these two structures. Case Report: We present a case of a newborn baby who developed biphasic stridor immediately after...
A seven-year-old girl presented with a 4 cm x 2 cm lesion of the tongue which was located at the posterior one-third in the midline. The lesion was excised by plasma knife surgery. No complication, such as bleeding, shortness of breath or infection, occurred after the treatment. Plasma knife surgery is an acceptable choice for selected benign lingual vascular malformations.
The numerous types of vascular abnormality are classified in groups according to their pathological and anatomical features. We present case histories of 2 patients who had vascular malformations of the face since birth or early childhood. Application methods, side-effects and complications of percutaneous and intra-lesional Nd:YAG-laser therapy are reviewed for these patients. A 54-year-old wo...
purpose: to report a case who had optic disc duplication, a rare congenital disorder characterized by two well-defined discs in one eye. case report: a 19 months-old child presented with unilateral epiphora in the right eye since birthday. the right eye was smaller than the left eye and mild ptosis was apparent. nasolacrimal duct probing was performed under general anesthesia. the examination r...
