Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is the retrograde flow of urine from urinary bladder to the ureter and the kidney. It can be asymptomatic and resolve itself or be associated with urinary tract infections (UTI), leading to pyelonephritis and nephropathy, which may lead to the complications of renal scarring, renal insufficiency, and hypertension. Treatment is guided by grade of reflux and age of the...

background and objective: vesicoureteral reflux (vur) is one of the most common urinary tract abnormalities in patients with urinary tract infection. nowadays noninvasive diagnostic methods are suggested to recognize vur and its severity. methods: we measured urinary and serum fibronectin in 51 children with vur. results: the mean serum fibronectin was 318.3±112.1 in children with low grade vur...
AIMS To determine the sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values of renal ultrasound findings for vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). METHODS Retrospective review of the ultrasound and voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) results of 162 children under 5 years of age admitted with their first episode of urinary tract infection (UTI) over a two year period. Ultrasound findings were considered suggesti...

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the prognostic value of initial direct radionuclide cystography (DRC) for spontaneous resolution of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). METHODS Fifty-one children with initial diagnosis and 1-6 years' follow-up of VUR by DRC were enrolled in this study. VUR was graded according to the anatomic grading as (1) mild reflux corresponding to tracer just in ureter, (2) moderate refl...
Reflux nephropathy is thought to be the etiology for renal maldevelopment. We present two boys with fetal hydronephrosis and sterile vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). There was lack of renal growth of the refluxing renal units on surveillance renal ultrasound. Parents elected to undergo open ureteral reimplants. Post-surgical ultrasounds demonstrated improved renal growth.
Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is one of the most important causes of urinary tract infection and renal failure in children. It is a potentially self-limited disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical course and significant factors in children with primary VUR. The medical charts of 125 infants and children (27.2 % males, 72.8% females) with all grades of primary VUR were retrospe...
Introduction. Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is a common symptom of various functional and morphological abnormalities. When appropriate conservative and endoscopic treatments are employed, surgical management is recommended in a progressively less frequent pattern. Failure of such treatment modalities may be an indication for surgical treatment. The methods that are used can be divided into those...
this study was conducted to investigate whether the length of the interval between a urinary tract infection and the performance of the voiding cystourethrogram influences the presence or severity of vesicoureteral reflux (vur). in this study 161 children with first episode of urinary tract infection were evaluated. depending on time of performance of voiding cystourethrogram (vcug), patients d...
