Characteristics and sonocatalytic activity of zeolite Y catalysts loaded with TiO2 using impregnation and ion exchange methods for the degradation of amaranth dye were investigated. The Ion-exchange method was used to encapsulate the TiO2 into the internal pores of the zeolite while the incorporation of TiO2 mostly on the external surface of zeolite was carried out using the impregnation method...

We investigated the reaction mechanism of a metal-unloaded zeolite-plasma hybrid system for decomposition of toluene at room temperature. Short-lived radicals and fast electrons did not contribute substantially to the reaction mechanism of toluene decomposition in the zeolite-plasma hybrid system. The main factor enhancing the reaction mechanism was gas-phase O3 directly reacting with toluene a...

According to the results of EPR spectroscopy associates of the complex molecules [Cu(ox)2] are formed on the external surface of the carrier by the reaction of 8-quinolinol (Hox) with highly mobile Cu(II) aqua complexes exchanged in the supercavities of fully hydrated Y zeolite. The reaction of Hox with Cu(II) exchanged zeolite Y, dehydrated in vacuo at 20 °C, 200 °C, and 400 °C, leads to segre...

Two flame retarded plastics have been pyrolysed in the presence of two Zeolite catalysts to remove the organobromine compounds from the derived pyrolysis oil. The flame retarded plastics were, acrylonitrile – butadiene – styrene (ABS) that was flame retarded with tetrabromobisphenol A and high-impact-polystyrene (HIPS) that was flame retarded with decabromodiphenyl ether. The two catalysts inve...

Environmental and/or occupational exposure to minerals, metals, and fibers can cause lung diseases that may develop years after exposure to the agents. The presence of toxic fibers such as asbestos in the environment plus the continuing development of new mineral or vitreous fibers requires a better understanding of the specific physical and chemical features of fibers/particles responsible for...

This work undertakes the study of the detoxification reactions of O, S-dimethyl phosphoramidithioate (methamidophos) as an organophophorus insecticide on the 14.7 wt% magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles/Ag-NaY faujasite molecular sieve zeolite (FMSZ) composite. The influence of solvent (methanol, acetonitrile and n-hexane) on the detoxification potential of composite was inves...

An electron-rich zinc-modified zeolite Y material shows substantial activity for the decomposition of CO(2) to carbon with the release of O(2) at about 300 °C. It is elucidated that electrons delocalized in the vicinity of zinc cations in the zeolite material play an essential role in the decomposition reaction.
