This article summarizes the basic facts and ideas concerning the formation and evolution of cataclysmic variables (CVs). It is shown why the formation of CVs must involve huge losses of mass and orbital angular momentum, very likely via a common envelope evolution. A brief discussion of the principles of the long-term evolution of semidetached binaries follows. Finally a brief sketch of CV evol...

1 Background and motivation incremental learning (e.g., in decision tree design the entire tree algorithm must be re-run) while symbolic The problem of induction or "learning from exalgorithms often incorporate incremental learning as amples" can roughly be divided into two distinct cata basic mechanism. On the other hand, symbolic egories, namely the symbolic manipulation approach techniques c...

The results of 16S rRNA, gyrB and catA gene sequence comparisons and reasserted DNA-DNA hybridization unambiguously proved that Rhodococcus jialingiae Wang et al. 2010 and Rhodococcus qingshengii Xu et al. 2007 represent a single species. On the basis of priority R. jialingiae must be considered a later synonym of R. qingshengii.

Catalase (H202: H202 oxidoreductase, EC 1.11.1.6) is a heme-containing enzyme that converts H202 into oxygen and water. In plants, catalase is involved in scavenging H202, which is generated during the course of photorespiration and P-oxidation of fatty acids. It also plays an important role in detoxification of active oxygen species that are generated by various environmental stresses (Scandal...

BACKGROUND Extensive use of phenolic compounds in industry has resulted in the generation of saline wastewaters that produce significant environmental contamination; however, little information is available on the degradation of phenolic compounds in saline conditions. Halomonas organivorans G-16.1 (CECT 5995(T)) is a moderately halophilic bacterium that we isolated in a previous work from sali...

A comprehensive transcriptome assembly of chickpea has been developed using 134.95 million Illumina single-end reads, 7.12 million single-end FLX/454 reads and 139,214 Sanger expressed sequence tags (ESTs) from >17 genotypes. This hybrid transcriptome assembly, referred to as Cicer arietinumTranscriptome Assembly version 2 (CaTA v2, available at http://data.comparative-legumes.org/transcriptome...

Seven Finnish honeys of different botanical origins were evaluated by 62 untrained panelists by using CATA method with 12 main attribute categories. Samples were also analyzed with SPMEGC-O by using 3 trained assessors and posterior intensity method to correlate sensory characteristics of honey with volatile compositions. Current presentation will cover the different chemometric techniques used...

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectra of some thiadiazoles have revealed the characteristic n -* 7t* transitions in cata-condensed thiadiazoles. Within the framework of the PPP method quantum mechanical calculations have been carried out in order to give a reasonable explanation for the MCD spectra, resulting in a fairly good agreement between the experimental and theoretical Faraday parame...
