Streptococcus dysgalactiae is an emerging pathogen of fish. Clinically, infection is characterized by the development of necrotic lesions at the caudal peduncle of infected fishes. The pathogen has been recently isolated from different fish species in many countries. Twenty S. dysgalactiae isolates collected from Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia were molecularly characterized by biased sin...
Flagellin is the structural protein and most abundant component of bacterial flagella. The flagellum filament contains around 20,000 – 100,000 subunits of 50 kDa flagellin that can have diverse biotechnological applications such as vaccine adjuvant and cellular protector during chemoand radiotherapy. The main aim of this work was to study a production process of purified native FliC flagellin o...
Probes derived from the tufA gene of Escherichia coli have been utilized to detect homologous sequences on Spirulina platensis DNA. A 6-kilobase-pair fragment of S. platensis DNA appears to contain two sequences homologous to the E. coli gene. Thus, as reported for gram-negative bacteria, the cyanobacterium presumably contains two tuf genes.
Here, we introduce a highly porous functional mesoscopically silica-polymer composite based on silica monolith-conjugated thiourea/formaldehyde copolymer. The developed nanostructure enables selective and fast removal of the radioactive pollutants strontium (Sr[II]) cesium (Cs[I]) ions from contaminated seawater. silica/polymer was synthesized by introducing solution into tetramethoxy orthosili...
Steers (n = 560; initial BW = 420 ± 26 kg) were selected from a pool of 1,040, using the IGENITY Profile DNA test for tenderness, sorted into 1 of 4 tenderness genotype (TG) groups [140 tough (TUF), 140 intermediate (INT), 140 tender (TEND), or 140 mixed (MXD)], and subsequently allocated into 56 pens at random, of which one-half (28 pens, 7 pens from each TG) were supplemented the β-adrenergic...
BACKGROUND: Formal linguistic properties of sentences-both lexical, i.e., argument structure, and syntactic, i.e., movement-as well as what is known about normal and disordered sentence processing and production, were considered in the development of Treatment of Underlying Forms (TUF), a linguistic approach to treatment of sentence deficits in patients with agrammatic aphasia. TUF is focused o...
