the root and flowers of butea monosperma (lam.) were extracted with methanol. extensive chromatographic separation and purification with the organic solvents was done. four phytochemicals were separated and their structures were established based on various spectroscopic techniques. isolated crude extract was subjected for antibacterial activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria ...

STUDY DESIGN Biomechanical human cadaveric study comparing straight and scoliotic spines with healthy and degenerated L4/5 discs. OBJECTIVE To describe the biomechanical environment of discs under various spinal alignments by measuring the coronal intradiscal pressure profiles. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA Abnormal loading of the lumbar discs in the concavity of scoliotic curves may accelerat...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the value of spinal and paraspinal anatomic markers in both the diagnosis of lumbosacral transitional vertebrae (LSTVs) and identification of vertebral levels on lumbar MRI. MATERIALS AND METHODS Lumbar MRI from 1049 adult patients were studied. By comparing with the whole-spine localizer, the diagnostic errors in numbering vertebral segments on lumbar MRI were evaluated...

in order to evaluation of plant densities and row spacing effects on growth and yield of wheat, an experiment was conducted by using four plant densities (125, 250, 375 and 500 plants per m2),two row spacing (12.5 and 25 cm), in a randomized complete block design with three replicates in anbare-ololum reign in rainfed and saline conditions during 2008-2009. results showed that leaf area index (...

HOLOGRAPHIC READ

We describe the three-dimensional holographic optical disc system for application as read-only memory. Several systems design issues are discussed including imaging optics, storage density, readout rate, and the alignment servo system. We demonstrate 40 bits=lm surface density and pixel-matched holographic data readout from a 12 cm disc spinning at 600 RPM.

a 25-year old man presented with chronic low back pain for about 5 years due to mild congenital lumbar kyphosis (l1-l3 25° with congenital posterior wedge vertebra l2). preoperative neurologic examination was normal. after posterior spinal fusion and instrumentation with moderate curve correction, the patient gradually developed the symptoms and signs of cauda equina syndrome due to intraoperat...

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was used to measure the changes in the volume (and fluid content) of the lumbar intervertebral discs (L1-L2, L2-L3, L3-L4, L4-L5) in five normal subjects. For each subject, MRI scans were taken at the end of a normal day and again on the following morning (after a night's bed rest). Ten further scans were taken during an 8-h protocol consisting of alternate peri...

see whether we could carry out disc operations as day cases, something which no-one previously had even contemplated, let alone carried out. We in Frenchay had introduced the operation of microdiscectomy in 1979, and this rapidly replaced the older way of doing disc operations without a microscope. The impulse for day case surgery came from our experiences with operating on doctors. The 4 cm in...
