CONTEXT Capecitabine has shown efficacy in treatment of metastatic pancreatic cancer. Several researchers have identified thymidine phosphorylase, dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase, or their ratio as indicators of response to capecitabine in various cancers. CASE REPORT We report two patients with metastatic pancreatic carcinoma who had long-term survivals on capecitabine after gemcitabine fail...

ABSTRACT : Dihydropyrimidines (DHPMs) are of much importance due to excellent pharmacological properties. In this account we have synthesized new functionalized DHPMs (a) 5-benzoyl-6-methyl-4-phenyl-3,4dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one (KT-01) and (b) 5-benzoyl-4-(4-chlorophenyl)-6-methyl-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one (KT-03) in two step reaction. The first step involves the synthesis of benzoylaceto...

DPYD gene encodes dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase which is the initial and rate-limiting enzyme in the metabolism of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). The aim of our study was PCR-RFLP based-genetic testing for the most common 5-FU toxicity-attributable IVS14 + 1G > A DPYD mutation (DPYD(*)2A) in 252 Polish colorectal cancer (CRC) patients treated with this adjuvant chemotherapeutic regimen after surgery....
