Three cryptic plasmids have been discovered in Acinetobacter calcoaceticus BD413. These three plasmids, designated pWM10 (7.4 kb), pWM11 (2.4 kb), and pWM12 (2.2 kb), exhibited extensive homology to one another, as shown by Southern blot hybridization and restriction site analysis data, and also hybridized with three plasmids having slightly different sizes detected in a second strain, A. calco...
The hygiene hypothesis states that the tremendous increase in atopic diseases correlates significantly with less contact to microbes in childhood. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Acinetobacter lwoffii F78, a rural cowshed isolate with strong allergy-protective properties that contains an 8,579-bp plasmid.
An outbreak of hospital-acquired Acinetobacter baumannii infections, caused by a bla(OXA-23)-positive carbapenem-resistant strain belonging to international clone II/ST2, was detected in Latvia. The strain was partially equipped with the armA gene and the intI1-aacA4-catB8-aadA1-qacEΔ1 class 1 integron. In addition, the strain carried AbaR25, a novel AbaR4-like resistance island of ~46,500 bp c...
Acinetobacter baumannii is an emerging nosocomial pathogen causing infections worldwide. In this study, we determined the genome sequences of two multidrug-resistant A. baumannii clinical strains isolated from a hospital in southern India. Genome analyses indicate that both the strains harbor numerous horizontally transferred genetic elements and antibiotic resistance cassettes.
The Acinetobacter baumannii clonal complex 113/79 (CC113/79) and class 2 integrons predominate in Latin America; a relationship between these characteristics was explored. The presence of integrases was determined in successive hospital Acinetobacter isolates (163 A. baumannii isolates and 72 Acinetobacter nosocomialis isolates). Most isolates had integrons, but class 1 and 2 integrons were pre...
Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged worldwide as an important nosocomial pathogen in medical institutions. Here, we present the draft genome sequences of A. baumannii strains MRY09-0642, MRY10-0558, and MRY12-0277 that were isolated from nosocomial outbreaks in Japan between 2008 and 2012 and that are resistant to antimicrobial agents, including carbapenems, fluoroquinolones, and aminoglycosides.
p-Hydroxybenzoate hydroxylase, the product of the pobA gene, gives rise to protocatechuate, which is metabolized by enzymes encoded by the pca operon in Acinetobacter calcoaceticus. Mutations in pcaD prevented growth of A. calcoaceticus with succinate in the presence of p-hydroxybenzoate. Mutants selected on this medium contained the original mutation in pcaD and also carried spontaneous mutati...
the condensation reaction of 5-(4-aminophenyl)-4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione with salicylaldehyde, 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde, 5-bromosalicylaldehyde, 2-nitrobenzaldehyde, 3-nitrobenzaldehyde, 4-nitrobenzaldehyde and 4-methoxybenzaldehyde in methanol results in series of new schiff bases. the structure of schiff bases were confirmed by 1h nmr, 13c nmr, ir and mass spectro...
Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as an important nosocomial pathogen causing health care-associated infections. In this study, we determined the genome of a twitching-positive clinical strain, B8300, isolated from a hospital in southern India. De novo assembly of PacBio long-read sequencing data generated the B8300 genome that consists of a chromosome of 3.82 Mbp and a plasmid of 25.15 kbp.
