Chemical agglomeration can reduce the particulates (including PM2.5) concentration emitted from fly ash particulates and the wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) system. However, the calcium-based slurries affect the regulation of agglomeration compared to water, in particular, the wettability of the particulates and the viscosity of the calciumbased slurry. The wettability and the viscosity are...
The effect of a halo doping on SCE in PiFET is investigated. The reduction of the separation between two PiOX layers (LPiOX) followed by a local agglomeration of halo doing region makes the reverse short channel effect efficiently suppressed. As the LPiOX decreases, the subthreshold swing decreases, and the DIBL increases. The final optimized condition is LPiOX =0.7× Lg~1.0× Lg.
Agglomeration spill-over benefits are a major driver of policy creating industrial and science parks across the world. However, agglomeration benefits can be offset by competition arising out of the spatial proximity of firms. In this paper we examine the impact of agglomeration and selection on Taiwanese firms' total factor productivity (TFP) distribution and show that agglomeration causes the...
Economic research on industry location and agglomeration has focused nearly exclusively on manufacturing. This paper shows that services are prominent among the most agglomerated industries, especially at the county level. Because traditional measures of knowledge spillovers, natural resource inputs, and labor pooling explain little of agglomeration in services industries, this paper takes an a...
Urban economists generally understand cities to balance negative externalities of congestion against the positive effects of agglomeration on productivity and consumers (Henderson, 1969). It is commonly assumed that that agglomeration promotes product variety. Here we explore a related but distinct effect on consumers, the effect of agglomeration (or city size) on product quality. This question...
Revenue sharing can be used to discourage low tax regions from competing for capital and firms with high tax regions. However, with heterogeneous regions, revenue sharing involves net transfers across regions and creates a “moral-hazard” problem – that is, regions may want to invest less in market fostering public good when the benefits are shared across nations. This paper analyzes these costs...
