Let r be a finite connecied regular bipartite 2-arc transitive graph. It is shown that r is a cover of a possibly smaller graph :E, which is also connecied and regular of the same valency as r, and there is a subgroup G of Aut :E such that G is 2-arc transitive on :E and every nontrivial normal subgroup of G has at most two orbits on vertices. Such graphs :E for which the subgroup G has an abel...

Abstract: When restricted to the rank 1 and rank 2 faces, the Hasse diagram of a regular abstract 4-polytope provides a bipartite graph with a high degree of symmetry. Focusing on the case of the self-dual polytopes of type 3,q,3, I will show that the graphs obtained are 3-arc transitive cubic graphs. Also, given any 3-arc transitive cubic graph, I will discuss when it is possible to consider t...

A transitive decomposition of a graph is a partition of the edge or arc set giving a set of subgraphs which are preserved and permuted transitively by a group of automorphisms of the graph. In this paper we give some background to the study of transitive decompositions and highlight a connection with partial linear spaces. We then describe a simple method for constructing transitive decompositi...

This paper concerns finite, edge-transitive direct and strong products, as well as infinite weak Cartesian products. We prove that the direct product of two connected, non-bipartite graphs is edge-transitive if and only if both factors are edgetransitive and at least one is arc-transitive, or one factor is edge-transitive and the other is a complete graph with loops at each vertex. Also, a stro...

In this paper, a complete classification of finite simple cubic vertex-transitive graphs girth 6 is obtained. It proved that every such graph, with the exception Desargues graph on 20 vertices, either skeleton hexagonal tiling torus, truncation an arc-transitive triangulation closed hyperbolic surface, or 6-regular respect to dihedral scheme. Cubic larger than are also discussed.

In this paper, a characterisation is given of finite s-arc transitive Cayley graphs with s ≥ 2. In particular, it is shown that, for any given integer k with k ≥ 3 and k 6= 7, there exists a finite set (maybe empty) of s-transitive Cayley graphs with s ∈ {3, 4, 5, 7} such that all s-transitive Cayley graphs of valency k are their normal covers. This indicates that s-arc transitive Cayley graphs...

Let Γ be a finite X-symmetric graph with a nontrivial Xinvariant partition B on V (Γ) such that ΓB is a connected (X, 2)-arctransitive graph and Γ is not a multicover of ΓB. A characterization of (Γ,X,B) was given in [20] for the case where |Γ(C) ∩ B| = 2 for B ∈ B and C ∈ ΓB(B). This motivates us to investigate the case where |Γ(C) ∩ B| = 3, that is, Γ[B,C] is isomorphic to one of 3K2, K3,3 − ...

A near-polygonal graph is a graph Γ which has a set C of m-cycles for some positive integer m such that each 2-path of Γ is contained in exactly one cycle in C. If m is the girth of Γ , then the graph is called polygonal. We provide a construction of an infinite family of polygonal graphs of arbitrary even girth with 2-arc transitive automorphism groups, showing that there are infinitely many 2...

A description is given of finite permutation groups containing a cyclic regular subgroup. It is then applied to derive a classification of arc transitive circulants, completing the work dating from 1970’s. It is shown that a connected arc transitive circulant of order n is one of the following: a complete graph Kn , a lexicographic product [K̄b], a deleted lexicographic product [K̄b] − b , where ...

Let G be a finite group, and let 1G 6∈ S ⊆ G. A Cayley di-graph Γ = Cay(G,S) of G relative to S is a di-graph with a vertex set G such that, for x, y ∈ G, the pair (x, y) is an arc if and only if yx−1 ∈ S. Further, if S = S−1 := {s−1|s ∈ S}, then Γ is undirected. Γ is conected if and only if G = 〈s〉. A Cayley (di)graph Γ = Cay(G,S) is called normal if the right regular representation of G is a ...
