the chromatic number of a graph g, denoted by χ(g), is the minimum number of colors such that g can be colored with these colors in such a way that no two adjacent vertices have the same color. a clique in a graph is a set of mutually adjacent vertices. the maximum size of a clique in a graph g is called the clique number of g. the turán graph tn(k) is a complete k-partite graph whose partition...
We introduce a partial order on the collection of chemical trees based on tree transformations. This partial order is tightly related to the Randić connectivity index χ. Its analysis provides new structural information about the behavior of χ. As an illustration of the approach presented, we give a different and more structural view of some known results about the first values of χ on the colle...
We consider four classes of graphs arising from a given graph via different types of edge subdivisions. We present explicit formulas expressing their eccentric connectivity index in terms of the eccentric connectivity index of the original graph and some auxiliary invariants.
In the visual cortex of the monkey the horizontal organization of the preferred orientations of orientation-selective cells follows two opposing rules: 1) neighbors tend to have similar orientation preferences, and 2) many different orientations are observed in a local region. Several orientation models which satisfy these constraints are found to differ in the spacing and the topological index...

In this note, we derive the lower bound on the sum for Wiener index of bipartite graph and its bipartite complement, as well as the lower and upper bounds on this sum for the Randić index and Zagreb indices. We also discuss the quality of these bounds.
the present note is devoted to establish some extremal results for the zeroth-order general randi'{c} index of cacti, characterize the extremal polyomino chains with respect to the aforementioned index, and hence to generalize two already reported results.
let g be a graph. in this paper, we study the eccentric connectivity index, the new version ofthe second zagreb index and the forth geometric–arithmetic index.. the basic properties ofthese novel graph descriptors and some inequalities for them are established.
general formulas are obtained for the vertex padmakar-ivan index (piv) of tetrathiafulvalene(ttf) dendrimer, whereby ttf units we are employed as branching centers. the piv index isa wiener-szeged-like index developed very recently. this topological index is defined as thesummation of all sums of nu(e) and nv(e), over all edges of connected graph g.
As highly discriminant distance-based topological indices, the Balaban index and the sum-Balaban index of a graph $G$ are defined as $J(G)=frac{m}{mu+1}sumlimits_{uvin E} frac{1}{sqrt{D_{G}(u)D_{G}(v)}}$ and $SJ(G)=frac{m}{mu+1}sumlimits_{uvin E} frac{1}{sqrt{D_{G}(u)+D_{G}(v)}}$, respectively, where $D_{G}(u)=sumlimits_{vin V}d(u,v)$ is the distance sum of vertex $u$ in $G$, $m$ is the n...
