In the present study, continuous adsorption experiments were carried out in an adsorption column to survey the efficiency of the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for removal of natural organic matters (NOMs) from aqueous solution. Parameters such as mass of CNTs, initial NOMs concentration were evaluated and also the breakthrough curves were obtained. Experiments performed with various initial NOMs conc...

Compared to single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and more defective multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs), the thin few-walled carbon nanotubes (FWNTs) are believed to have extraordinary mechanical properties. However, the enhancement of mechanical properties in FWNTs-polymer composites has remained elusive. In this study, free-standing carbon nanotubes (CNTs)/polymer composite films were fabr...

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) can be effectively dispersed and functionalized by wrapping with long single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) synthesized by asymmetric PCR. The ssDNA-CNTs attached on surface of glass carbon electrode made it possible for electrochemical analysis and sensing, which was demonstrated by reduction of H2O2 on hemoglobin/ssDNA-CNTs modified electrodes. This research showed the potential...

Electrically conducting super-macroporous polymer/carbon nanotubes (CNTs) composites have been fabricated with the aid of cryogenic treatment. CNTs are selectively deposited onto the inner surface of interconnected polymer walls surrounding large air-filled pores. The present concept provides highly conducting nanocomposites at a very low nanotubes content.

Self-assembly of carbon nanotubes Introduction This talk addresses the self-assembly of carbon nanotubes (CNTs). In order for useful and potentially important structures and devices to be built from CNTs it is essential that the nanotubes be manipulated and organized in some way. One of the most promising routes to such structures and devices appears thus far to be self-assembly. While acknowle...

A DNA-assisted assembly approach is developed to fabricate a capacitor-type electrode material, DNA-functionalized carbon nanotubes (CNTs@DNA), and a battery-type electrode material, DNA@CNTs-bridged MnO2 spheres (CNTs@DNA-MnO2), for asymmetric supercapacitors. An energy density of 11.6 W h kg(-1) is achieved at a power density of 185.5 W kg(-1) with a high MnO2 mass loading of 4.2 mg cm(-2). I...

A mixture of acetylene, hydrogen and ammonia C2H2/H2/NH3 is used to produce carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by a plasma-enhanced catalytic chemical vapor deposition process with hot-filaments assistance (PE HF CCVD). The investigation of gas phase and surface chemistry is performed by CHEMKINTM software. The concentration of gas phase species on the substrate is presented. Based on this study the role ...

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes have been synthesized by catalytic chemical vapor deposition of ethylene, using two different catalysts in order to obtain nanotubes with average diameters of 24 and 58 nm, and different lengths. Polyamide 6 (PA6) was reinforced by melt-mixing in an extruder with 2 wt% functionalized and unfunctionalized carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The nanocomposites were characterized...

Owing to their remarkable mechanical properties, carbon nanotubes have been employed in many diverse areas of applications. However, similar to any of the many man-made materials used today, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are also susceptible to various kinds of defects. Understanding the effect of defects on the mechanical properties and behavior of CNTs is essential in the design of nanotube-based d...
