The effect of impurities on the grain boundary melting of ice is investigated through an extension of Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek theory, in which we include retarded potential effects in a calculation of the full frequency-dependent van der Waals and Coulombic interactions within a grain boundary. At high dopant concentrations, the classical solutal effect dominates the melting behavior. ...
The semileptonic decay B → πl ¯ ν l is studied starting from a simple quark model and taking into account the effect of the B * resonance. A novel, multiply subtracted, Omnès dispersion relation has been implemented to extend the predictions of the quark model to all physical q 2 values. We find |V ub | = 0.0034 ± 0.0003(exp.)± 0.0007(theory), in good agreement with experiment.
Hyperthermophilic proteins often possess an increased number of surface salt bridges compared with their mesophilic homologues. However, salt bridges are generally thought to be of minor importance in protein stability at room temperature. In an effort to understand why this may no longer be true at elevated temperatures, we performed molecular dynamics simulations of the hyperthermophilic prot...
We present a general analysis of SU(3) breaking effects in the semi-inclusive tau hadronic width. The recent ALEPH measurements of the inclusive Cabibbo–suppressed decay width of the τ and several moments of its invariant mass distribution are used to determine the value of the strange quark mass. We obtain, in the MS scheme, ms(M 2 τ ) = (119± 24) MeV to O(α 3 s), which corresponds to ms(1GeV ...
We present quenched results for B meson decay constants using NRQCD b quarks and O(a) tadpole improved clover light quarks. For the first time, one-loop matching factors between lattice and continuum currents are incorporated through O(α/M) taking operator mixing fully into account. This includes an important O(α a) discretization correction to the heavy-light axial vector current. We find f B ...
A mixed Valence-Bond/Hartree-Fock method applied to all valence electrons calculations on finite size clusters was derived in order to size up the relative magnitude of the coulombic interactions between conduction electrons in organic conductors. An effective
An analytical expression of Coulomb interaction between a sphere and a cylindrical rod was derived. Along with a recently reported van der Waals interaction expression, the derived Coulomb interaction expression, for the first time, allows one to quantitatively evaluate the activation energy in the oriented attachment growth of colloidal nanorods.
Condensate of a charged boson fluid at non-integer dimensions between 2 and 3 is studied. Interaction between particles is assumed to be Coulombic, and Bogoliubov approximation is applied for a weak coupling regime. The condensate and the superfluid fraction at finite temperatures and at non-integer dimensions are calculated. The theoretical results are compared with the superfluid densities of...
Masses of Single, Double, and Triple Heavy Baryons in the Hyper-Central Quark Model by Using GF-AEIM
By using the generalized fractional analytical iteration method (GF-AEIM), single, double, and triple heavy baryons masses are calculated in hyper-central model two cases. In first case, potential is a combination of Coulombic potential, linear confining harmonic oscillator potential. second we add hyperfine interaction. The energy eigenvalues baryonic wave function obtained forms. present resu...
We present a method for constructing a pseudoelectric field at each point in space, which gives the force on a classical ion due to its local or nonlocal pseudopotential interaction with a quantum electronic system. Our derivation extends a classical reciprocity theorem used by Hellmann and Feynman for purely Coulombic interactions to a family of generalized electron-ion potentials, which are u...
