Time-dependent creep analysis is crucial for the performance and reliability of piezoactuators used for high-precision positioning and load-bearing applications. In this study history of stresses, deformations and electric potential of hollow rotating cylinders made of functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM), e.g., PZT_7A have been investigated using Mendelson’s method of successive e...

A silicon load cell (force sensor) is presented which is based on a new operating principle. The force is measured by compressing a meander like strain gage. A second strain gage which is not loaded, is used for temperature compensation and for compensation of bending and stretching stresses in the chip. Also, same changes in zero load resistor values are eliminated. It is shown that the output...

The mechanical properties of bed bug (Cimex lectularius L.) tarsi and pretarsi were investigated in order to evaluate their vulnerability to piercing by plant trichomes (sharp microscopic hairs). Nanoindentation was used to measure the force required to insert a sharp probe into the cuticle of these different regions, as well as to determine creep and reduced elastic moduli for the cuticle. Sca...

Lateral velocity has very backbone position in the railway vehicle wheelset dynamics as it usually becomes cause of derailment by sliding due to insufficient adhesion ratio. This impropriate balance is pretext owing to contamination and weather procures the disturbances. This perturbation makes hindrances in proper running of wheelset on track. To analyze the noise, Kalman filter is used based ...

Background: The short-time creep behavior for a series of biodegradable nanocomposites which is used as implantable device into body is a crucial factor. In the current paper, we aimed to study the effect of bioactive glass nanoparticles (BGn) on creep and creep-recovery behaviors of PLA/PCL blends at different given load and different applied temperatures. Method: A series of biodegradab...

In the Present study, attempt will be made to propose a new method for prediction of long-term essential creep of concrete utilizing some short-term creep tests under high temperature. To do so, regarding the similarities between essential creep of concrete and creep in viscoelastic materials, the time–temperature equivalence relation in viscoelastic materials is evaluated for concrete. This re...

We experimentally study the dynamics of an intruder dragged at a constant force in a horizontally vibrated monolayer of grains. At moderate packing fractions, the intruder moves rapidly as soon as the force is applied. Above some threshold value it has an intermittent creep motion with strong fluctuations reminiscent of "crackling noise". These fluctuations are critical at the jamming transitio...

Deformation brings out important features of viscoelastic behaviour in polymers. To achieve a better understanding of the underlying phenomena, molecular dynamics simulations have been performed for oneand two-phase polymeric materials created on the computer. An external force was applied to the materials and their response followed as a function of time. The mechanical properties were found t...

Making use of the possibility that gluon condensate can be formed in neutron star core, we study the vortex pinning force between the crust and the interior of the neutron star. Our estimations indicate an increase in pinning strength with the age of the neutron star. This helps in explaining observed pulsar glitches and removes some difficulties faced by vortex creep model.

creep phenomenon in rock engineering plays a key role in development of underground spaces as they must be stable enough for a long period of time. current research involved designing and manufacturing of a new creep testing machine. the equipment is capable to perform simultaneous light-duty creep tests on more than one cylindrical rock samples at a very low cost.to evaluate the equipment’s pe...
