C-Bézier and C-B-spline curves, as the trigonometric extensions of cubic uniform spline curves are well-known in geometric modeling. These curves depend on a shape parameter α in a way that α → 0 yields the cubic polynomial curves. The geometric effect of the alteration of this parameter is discussed in this paper by the help of relative parametrization and linear approximation.
The collocation methods based on cubic B-spline, are developed to approximate solution of the second and first kind Fredholm integral equations.First we collocate the solution by B-spline and the Newton-Cotes formula is used to approximate integral. Convergence analysis has been investigated and proved that the quadratur rule is fourth order convergent. The presented methods are tested to the p...
Many mathematical formulations of physical phenomena contain integro-differential equations. In this paper a numerical method is developed to solve the convection-diffusion integro-differential equations with a weakly singular kernel using the cubic B-spline collocation method. These equations occur in many applications such as in the transport of air and ground water pollutants, oil reservoir ...
In this article, we study the numerical solution of the one dimensional nonlinear sineGordon by using the modified cubic B-spline differential quadrature method (MCB-DQM). The scheme is a combination of a modified cubic B-spline basis function and the differential quadrature method. The modified cubic B-spline is used as a basis function in the differential quadrature method to compute the weig...
Uniform cubic B-spline functions have been used for mapping functions in various areas such as image warping and morphing, 3D deformation, and volume morphing. The injectivity (one-to-one property) of a mapping function is crucial to obtain desirable results in these areas. This paper considers the injectivity conditions of 2D and 3D uniform cubic B-spline functions. We propose a geometric inte...
The algorithms and programs in this handy book deal almost exclusively with cubic splines. A short introduction stresses the maximum "smoothness" of "natural" splines. The next chapter reviews the numerical solution of tridiagonal linear systems by Gauss elimination and of block tridiagonal linear systems by relaxation. Chapter 3 offers programs for cubic spline interpolation with various (sepa...
This paper describes a comparison of some numerical methods for solving the advection-diffusion (AD) equation which may be used to describe transport of a pollutant. The one-dimensional advection-diffusion equation is solved by using cubic splines (the natural cubic spline and a ”special” AD cubic spline) to estimate first and second derivatives, and also by solving the same problem using two s...
