Fedir M. Sokhats’kyi recently posed four problems concerning parastrophic equivalence between generalized quasigroup functional equations. Sava Krstić in his PhD thesis established a connection between generalized quadratic quasigroup functional equations and connected cubic graphs. We use this connection to solve two of Sokhats’kyi’s problems, giving also complete characterization of parastrop...

In this paper, we consider orthogonal stability of mixed type additive and cubic functional equation of the form $$f(2x+y)+f(2x-y)-f(4x)=2f (x+y)+2f(x-y)-8f(2x) +10f(x)-2f(-x),$$ with $xbot y$, where $bot$  is orthogonality in the sense of Ratz.

We describe an efficient algorithm for solving index form equations in number fields of degree 9 which are composites of cubic fields with coprime discriminants. We develop the algorithm in detail for the case of complex cubic fields, but the main steps of the procedure are also applicable for other cases. Our most important tool is the main theorem of a recent paper of Gaál (1998a). In view of...

In this paper, we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the generalized radical cubic functional equation[    fleft( sqrt[3]{ax^3 + by^3}right)=af(x) + bf(y),]    where $a,b in mathbb{R}_+$ are fixed positive real numbers, by using direct method in quasi-$beta$-Banach spaces. Moreover, we use subadditive functions to investigate stability of the generaliz...

We present a convention (for square/cubic root) which provides correct interpretations of Lagrange’s formula for all cubic polynomial equations with real coefficients. Using this convention, we also present a real solution formulas for the general cubic equation with real coefficients under equality and inequality constraints.

A general scheme for determining and studying hydrodynamic type systems describing integrable deformations of algebraic curves is applied to cubic curves. Lagrange resolvents of the theory of cubic equations are used to derive and characterize these deformations.

Bivariate cubic L1 smoothing splines are introduced. The coefficients of a cubic L1 smoothing spline are calculated by minimizing the weighted sum of the L1 norms of second derivatives of the spline and the 1 norm of the residuals of the data-fitting equations. Cubic L1 smoothing splines are compared with conventional cubic smoothing splines based on the L2 and 2 norms. Computational results fo...
