During asymmetric cyanohydrin synthesis catalysed by vanadium(V)oxo(salen) complexes, the catalysts are reduced to vanadium(IV)oxo(salen) as determined by EPR spectroscopy; the reducing agent is cyanide which is oxidised to cyanogen via a non-radical mechanism.

Oxidative α-cyanation of tertiary amines is catalyzed by gold complexes with trimethylsilyl cyanide to afford the corresponding α-aminonitriles in the presence of tert-butyl hydroperoxide in good to excellent yields under acid-free conditions at room temperature.

The reaction of trans-[Fe(R-bpb)(CN)2]- (R-bpb2-=R-substituted-1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)benzenate) with trans-Mn(III) Schiff base complexes [Mn(5-X-saltn)]ClO4 (5-X-saltn2-=N,N'-propanolbis(5-X-substituted-salcylideneiminato) dianion) gave rise to cyanide-bridged neutral binuclear [MnFe] compounds [Mn(saltn)(MeOH)][Fe(bpb)(CN)2].3H2O (), [Mn(saltn)(H2O)Fe(bpmb)(CN)2].H2O (), [Mn(saltn)(Me...

N K and 3d atom L absorption spectra of hexacyano complexes in solid K Fe(CN) , Na Fe(CN) , K Cr(CN) , 2,3 4 6 4 6 3 6 K Mn(CN) , K Fe(CN) , and K Co(CN) have been measured by detecting the total electron yield. The N K spectra of the 3 6 3 6 3 6 complexes are very similar and differ only in intensity of the lowest-energy absorption band. The intensity of this feature 32 systematically decrease...

Two chiral dinuclear cyanide/isocyanide-bridged complexes (R)-[Cp(dppe)Fe-CN-Fe(dppp)Cp]PF6 (1[PF6]) and (R)-[Cp(dppe)Fe-NC-Fe(dppp)Cp]PF6 (2[PF6]), and their mono-oxidation products (R)-[Cp(dppe)Fe(II)-CN-Fe(III)(dppp)Cp] [PF6]2 (1[PF6]2) and (R)-[Cp(dppe)Fe(III)-NC-Fe(II)(dppp)Cp][PF6]2 (2[PF6]2) were synthesized and fully characterized. The electronic spectra of both the mixed-valence comple...

Leads to the cellular effects of the anti-arthritic gold complexes may come from the determination of their metabolism by target cells and, possibly, cells in the immediate environment of the target cells. Polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) and mononuclear cells (monocytes and lymphocytes) are present in inflamed joints of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and these cells have been widely used...

Cyanidation is the main process for gold and silver recovery from its ores. In this study, a process is proposed to recover copper and cyanide from barren solutions from the Merrill-Crowe cementation process with zinc dust. This technology is based on inducing nucleated precipitation of copper and silver in a serpentine reactor, using sodium sulfide as the precipitator, and sulfuric acid for pH...
