The deformation mechanism of lean duplex stainless steel (LDSS) is overly complex not only by their dual phase microstructure, but also due to metastable austenite, which can deform different mechanisms and transform martensite strain. purpose this study was investigate the tensile test on low deformed cold-rolled samples (4%-22%) a 2304 LDSS. microstructure analyzed X-ray diffraction, optical ...

transformation induced plasticity (trip) steels have a vast application in automotive industry because of theirhigh strength, high ductility and hence excellent energy absorption capacity. these characteristics of tripsteels are due to the existence of retained austenite in their microstructures in the ambient temperature, whichtransforms to the martensite phase during deformation. the microstr...

Aging and quenching at critical temperatures were applied to a hot-rolled (HR) Fe-24.86Ni-5.8Al-0.38C (mass%) dual-phase alloy obtain B2 precipitates with various volume fractions sizes. Higher yield strength stronger strain hardening achieved in the aged samples compared these for HR sample, corresponding deformation mechanisms carefully revealed. The show hetero-deformation induced that sampl...

Fig. 1: Maps of the deviatoric strain of the B2 austenite along the vertical y axis (εyy) from x-ray diffraction analysis. The global displacements for these maps are shown in the upper left corner of each image. The dark lines illustrate the approximate location of the edges of the diamond strut. The red color indicates tensile strain whereas blue indicates compressive strain; note also the pr...

Deformation-induced martensites generally follow the principle on selection of their variants in intrinsic crystallographic orientations with regard to parent grains, which should be significantly affected by cooperative rotation matrix. In this paper, microstructural changes related deformation-induced transformation from metastable γ austenite ε and α′ 304 austenitic stainless steel upon unia...

The shape memory alloys present, in the high temperature phase, a super-elastic behaviour : during a super-elastic test, the martensitic transformation is induced by the stress, and a large reversible deformation is observed. With a single crystal, the maximum superelastic deformation reaches 8 to 10%. During the tensile test on a single crystal, only one variant of martensite is induced in the...

In the work reported here, mechanical properties of a newly developed Fe-Ni-Co-Mn-Ti-Si medium-entropy alloy with heterogeneous microstructure were investigated. High yield strength (~930 MPa), high ultimate tensile (~1100 and good ductility (~30%) achieved using hetero-deformation-induced strengthening plastic-incompatibility between mechanically induced-martensite austenitic matrix.

Thermodynamically consistent, three-dimensional (3D) phase field approach (PFA) for coupled multivariant martensitic transformations (PTs), including cyclic PTs, variant– variant transformations (i.e., twinning), and dislocation evolution is developed at large strains. One of our key points is in the justification of the multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient into elastic, tra...

In situ neutron diffraction experiment was used during tensile testing at room temperature to examine the changes on the percentage and texture of both ferrite and austenite in a nanocrystalline bainitic steels transformed at two different temperatures 200°C and 300oC for different times to achieve the same phase percentages. Both samples showed an inadequate capability of austenite to transfor...
