Cranial desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is extremely rare and only 20 cases, including only 7 pediatric cases, have been reported previously. We describe the first case of a child with cranial DF that increased in size over a short-term and recurred after resection. The aim of this case report was to discuss the clinical, radiological, and histological characteristics and optimal treatment for this r...

BACKGROUND Desmoplastic fibroblastoma (collagenous fibroma) is an uncommon benign soft-tissue tumor, rarely involving bone. It shares some overlapping features with other infiltrate tumors, such as desmoid-type fibromatosis, neurofibroma, and low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma. The misdiagnosis may cause unnecessary surgical overtreatment, especially for those involving bone. In order to deepen the ...

BACKGROUND Desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is an extremely rare locally aggressive bone tumor with an incidence of 0.11% of all primary bone tumors. The typical clinical presentation is pain and swelling above the affected area. The most common sites of involvement are the mandible and the metaphysis of long bones. Histologically and biologically, desmoplastic fibroma mimics extra-abdominal desmoid t...

Desmoplastic fibromas are rare, benign, locally aggressive bone tumors, which arise primarily in patients younger than 30 years old. Historically, even with greater functional loss, en bloc or wide resection of the tumors to prevent local recurrence has been the method of choice in treatment. This article discusses the presentation of a 10-year-old male who presented with a mass in the distal f...

Collagenous fibroma (desmoplastic fibroblastoma) is a rare benign fibrous soft tissue tumor. This lesion commonly presents with painless, non-tender, mobile and slowly growing mass in subcutaneous tissue or skeletal muscle at various anatomic location. On magnetic resonance image (MRI), the mass shows area of low signal intensity on both T1and T2weighted pulse sequences. This low signal intensi...

Desmoplastic fibromas of bone has been described as a rare, non-metastasizing, locally aggressive, benign lesions that histologically resembles a desmoid tumour of the soft tissue [1,2]. It was initially described by Jaffe in 1958 who highlighted the histological resemblance to aggressive fibromatosis (desmoid tumour) [3]. Since his original description, approximately 150 case reports have been...

This report describes a chondromyxoid fibroma of the second metacarpal bone in a 32-year-old female patient. Chondromyxoid fibroma is a rare, benign, slow-growing bone tumor of cartilaginous origin. Tumor has a high recurrance rate. Our aim was to show successful treatment of a metacarpal chondromyxoid fibroma with wide resection and implantation of finger join endoprosthesis.
