The stability, persistence and dynamics of the peptide secondary motifs are investigated in a series of poly(γ-benzyl-L-glutamate)-b-polyalanine (PBLG-b-PAla) polypeptides through a combination of structural (X-rays, NMR) and dynamic (Dielectric Spectroscopy, NMR) probes. The unfavorable enthalpic interactions between the unlike blocks give rise to nanophase separation that results in the desta...

Structural studies of proteins are critical for understanding biological processes at the molecular level. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is a powerful technique for obtaining structural and dynamic information on proteins and protein-ligand complexes. In the present review, methodologies for NMR structure determination of proteins and macromolecular complexes are described. In a...

NMR spectroscopy is a powerful tool for studying the structure, function and dynamics of biological macromolecules. However, non-spectroscopists often find NMR theory daunting and data interpretation nontrivial. As the first of two back-to-back reviews on NMR spectroscopy aimed at non-spectroscopists, the present review first provides an introduction to the basics of macromolecular NMR spectros...

7Li stimulated-echo NMR and classical relaxation NMR techniques are jointly used for the first time for a comprehensive investigation of Li diffusion in layer-structured Li0.7TiS2. One single 2D Li diffusion process was probed over a dynamic range of almost 10 orders of magnitude. So far, this is the largest dynamic range being measured by 7Li NMR spectroscopy directly, i.e., without the help o...

It is shown that surface NMR spectra can be greatly enhanced using dynamic nuclear polarization. Polarization is transferred from the protons of the solvent to the rare nuclei (here carbon-13 at natural isotopic abundance) at the surface, yielding at least a 50-fold signal enhancement for surface species covalently incorporated into a silica framework.
