The space-like penguin contributions were ignored on little ground in many previous studies of nonleptonic B transitions and CP violation. Taking the penguin-dominated channels B− u → K̄0π− and B− u → K0K− for example, we illustrate the non-negligible effects of the space-like penguin diagrams on CP asymmetries. Some qualitative remarks are given on the gluonic penguin picture and direct CP viol...
The role of penguin amplitudes in CP violating B decays is reviewed, emphasizing recent progress in the analysis of electroweak penguin contributions. It is shown how these terms are included in a model-independent manner when measuring the weak phase α in B → ππ using isospin symmetry, and when determining the phase γ from B → Kπ applying flavor SU(3). Uncertainties due to rescattering effects...
We study in next-to-leading order QCD hadronic penguin B decays in the Standard and two-Higgs-doublet models. Although the gluonic penguin dominates, we find the electroweak contribution non-negligible. In the Standard Model, the branching ratio for B → Xsφ is predicted to be in the range (0.6 ∼ 2) × 10−4. The ranges of branching ratios for B → Kφ, B → Kφ, and Bs → φφ are (0.4 ∼ 2)× 10−5, (0.2 ...
We report on dispersive and finite energy sum rule analyses of the electroweak penguin matrix elements (ππ)2|Q7,8|K 0 in the chiral limit. We accomplish the correct perturbative matching (scale and scheme dependence) at NLO in αs, and we describe two different strategies for numerical evaluation.
Latest experimental progress is reviewed on the searches for physics beyond the Standard Model using the radiative and electroweak penguin decays of B mesons. This review covers inclusive and exclusive measurements of the b → sγ, b → dγ and b → sll processes, including the first observation of B → Kll and the first attempt to measure the inclusive B → Xsl l branching fraction.
We calculate the decay constants of Ds and D ∗ s with B̄ 0 → D+l−ν and B̄0 → D+D s decays. In our analysis we take the factorization method with considering non-factorizable term contributions and used two different form factor behaviours (constant and monopoletype) for F0(q 2). We also consider the QCD-penguin and Electroweak-penguin contributions in hadronic decays within the NDR renormalizatio...
We calculate the decay constants of Ds and D∗ s with B̄0 → D+`−ν and B̄0 → D+D−(∗) s decays. In our analysis we take the factorization method with considering non-factorizable term contributions and used two different form factor behaviours (constant and monopoletype) for F0(q). We also consider the QCD-penguin and Electroweak-penguin contributions in hadronic decays within the NDR renormalizatio...
Recent branching fraction and asymmetry results of Electroweak Penguin B decays from BaBar, Belle and CLEO experiments are reviewed. While these branching fractions are consistent with the Standard Model expectations and are being used to extract heavy quark model parameters and CKM matrix elements, the asymmetry results are just becoming sensitive to observe any new physics effects.
The penguin mediated processes b → sg and b → sl+l− are studied. In the Standard Model, for the leptonic modes improvement in experimental limits will put strigient bounds on the top mass, where the present limit from b → sμ+μ− is 390 GeV. For hadronic penguin processes, although the gluonic penguin dominates, we find the electroweak contribution are around 30% for the upper range allowed top m...
