The growing practice of exploiting noninvasive fluorescence-based techniques to study G protein-coupled receptor pharmacology at the single cell and single molecule level demands the availability of high-quality fluorescent ligands. To this end, this study evaluated a new series of red-emitting ligands for the human β-adrenoceptor family. Upon the basis of the orthosteric ligands propranolol, a...

Many fluorescent sensors are currently available for in vitro bio-physiological microscopic imaging. The ability to label cells in living animals with these fluorescent sensors would help translate some of these assays into in vivo applications. To achieve this goal, the first step is to establish a method for selectively labeling target cells with exogenous fluorophores. Here we tested whether...

By replacing the central thiophene unit of an anionic pentameric oligothiophene with other heterocyclic moities, a palette of pentameric thiophene-based ligands with distinct fluorescent properties were synthesized. All ligands displayed superior selectivity towards recombinant amyloid fibrils as well as disease-associated protein aggregates in tissue sections.

abstract the cr(iii) and zn(ii) complexes with 2-((9,10-dihydro-1-hydroxy-9,10-dioxaanthracen-4-yloxy)carbonyl)benzoic acid as ligand have been prepared by reacting cr(no3) and zn(no3)2 and ligand in cloroform. the cr and zn complexes with 2-((9,10-dihydro-1-hydroxy-9,10-dioxaanthracen-4-yloxy)carbonyl) were also prepared in chloroform and aceton solutions. the uv-visible and ft-ir spectra of...

We employed molecular modeling to design and then synthesize fluorescent ligands for the human progesterone receptor. Boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) or tetramethylrhodamine were conjugated to the progesterone receptor antagonist RU486 (Mifepristone) through an extended hydrophilic linker. The fluorescent ligands demonstrated comparable bioactivity to the parent antagonist in live cells and trigg...

Materials with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties have received increased attention recently due to their potential applications in light-emitting devices, chemo/biosensors and biomedical diagnostics. In general, AIE requires the forced aggregation of the AIEgens induced by the poor solvent or close arrangement of AIEgens covalently attached to polymer chains. Here, we report two coo...

Knowledge on the synthesis of cationically charged fluorescent gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) is limited because the electrostatic repulsion between cationic ligands on the surface of NP hinders the formation of small Au NPs (usually less than ca. 2 nm) during nucleation in solvents. We herein propose a novel methodology for a synthesis of water-dispersible, cationic-thiolate protected fluorescent...

Light without fright: a synthetic route to fluorescent primary phosphanes (RPH(2)) that are resistant to air oxidation both in the solid state and in chloroform solution is described. These versatile precursors undergo hydrophosphination to give tripodal ligands and subsequently fluorescent transition-metal complexes.

Fluorescent imidazole-triazole based ligands L1 and L2 have been designed as chemical push-pull chemosensors for divalent metal ions synthesized through palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions using indium organometallics click chemistry. The novel exhibit intense absorption in the ultraviolet region with high molar extinction coefficients, strong fluorescence emission large Stokes displac...

The alkaloid berberine presents many biological activities related to its potential bind DNA structures, such as duplex or G-quadruplex. Recently, it has been proposed that may interact with i-motif structures formed from the folding of cytosine-rich sequences. In present work, interaction this by human telomere sequence, well several positive and negative controls, studied. Molecular fluoresce...
