Malignant phyllodes tumor is a rare tumor of the breast occurring in females usually between the ages of 35 and 55 years. It is often difficult to distinguish benign from malignant phyllodes tumors from other benign entities such as fibroadenomas. This case presentation demonstrates a woman with malignant phyllodes tumor treated with mastectomy with abdominal skin flap reconstruction.

Bilateral phyllodes tumors are distinctly uncommon. As some previous reports have described, most of them are malignant and asynchronous. We report a new case of bilateral synchronous phyllodes tumor in a 32-year-old women. Both tumors were classified as benign after large bilateral excision. No tumor recurrence was noted during the 10 months follow-up.

Clonality of fibroadenoma and phyllodes tumor of the breast was analyzed by means of the polymerase chain reaction using small DNA samples prepared from cryostat sections. The method of clonal analysis was based on restriction fragment length polymorphism of X-chromosome-linked phosphoglycerokinase gene and on differential methylation of the gene. Specimens from 10 fibroadenomas and 5 phyllodes...

Phyllodes tumor is an extremely rare tumor of the breast. It occurs in females in the third and fourth decades. The difficulty in distinguishing between phyllodes tumors and benign fibroadenoma may lead to misdiagnosis. Lymph node involvement is rarely described in phyllodes tumors; for this reason, sentinel node biopsy may be warranted. We present a case of a 33-year-old woman affected by huge...

Giant phyllodes tumors (PT) are an uncommon fibroepithelial neoplasm and especially rare in adolescent girls. Diagnosis is difficult not only due to the rarity of PT, but also owing to the resemblance of its clinical and imaging features with fibroadenoma. The author reports a case of a giant PT in a 14-year-old girl. Clinical examination showed a large painful mass in the left breast, and an a...
