A correlation between radiation therapy and cavernoma has been suspected since 1994. Since then, only a few cases of radio-induced cavernomas have been reported in the literature (85 patients). Most of them were children, and the most frequent original tumour had been medulloblastoma. The authors report a case of two cystic cavernous angiomas after radiation therapy for atypical meningioma in a...
Third ventricular cavernous angiomas are rare vascular malformations of the brain. We report an eight-year old boy with a rare third ventricular cavernous angioma that hemorrhaged presenting with symptoms of acute hydrocephalus. Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) showed a heterogenous ill-defined, solid and cystic intraventricular mass in the third ventricle which was...
Cavernous angiomas (cavernomas) of the cavernous sinus are uncommon, with only scattered reports in literature. Unlike their parenchymatous counterparts, they are intensely enhancing para-sellar masses, iso/hypointense in T1- and hyperintense in T2-weighted images. Differential diagnosis with para-sellar meningiomas and schwannomas can be difficult. We report three cases of this condition, desc...
We present the CT, MR angiographic, and histologic findings of a rare primary meningeal melanocytoma of the cavernous sinus. The primary differential diagnosis is between a melanin-containing tumor and an extraaxial cavernous angioma. Radiologic imaging cannot distinguish between the less aggressive primary meningeal melanocytoma and the more aggressive meningeal melanoma.
Atopic myelitis, a type of myelitis which appears in patients with elevated serum levels of immunoglobulin E (IgE), occurs more commonly in the cervical spinal cord, but this mechanism has not yet been elucidated. Herein, we experienced a case of atopic myelitis developed during the growth of cervical cavernous angioma caused by bleeding. A 37-year-old woman suffered from hand swelling caused b...

A rare case of persistent intractable hiccup as presenting symptom of cavernous angioma in the medulla oblongata is reported. Pathophysiologic hypotheses about the triggering mechanism of hiccup are discussed, with special reference to the causes affecting the central nervous system. A review of the literature concerning medullary lesions presenting with persistent hiccup is also reported. Fina...
