This study addresses the question whether prosodic information can affect the choice for a syntactic analysis in auditory sentence processing. We manipulated the prosody (in the form of a prosodic break; PB) of locally ambiguous Dutch sentences to favor one of two interpretations. The experimental items contained two different types of so-called control verbs (subject and object control) in the...

A finite linear space is a finite set of points and lines, where any two points lie on a unique line. Well known examples include projective planes. This project focuses on linear spaces which admit certain types of symmetries. Symmetries of the space which preserve the line structure are called automorphisms. A group of these is called an automorphism group of the linear space. Two interesting...

We consider the transitive linear maps on the operator algebra $B(X)$for a separable Banach space $X$. We show if a bounded linear map is norm transitive on $B(X)$,then it must be hypercyclic with strong operator topology. Also we provide a SOT-transitivelinear map without being hypercyclic in the strong operator topology.

Throughout this paper D always will denote a design with v points, k > 2 points per line, and = 1 line through any two diierent points. Let G Aut (D). I will primarily be interested in the case in which G either is 2-transitive on the points of D or is transitive on the ags (incident point-line pairs) of D. Note that 2-transitivity implies ag-transitivity since = 1. The subject matter has been ...

Aggregation of non-finite families of transitive relations is studied and applied to calculate the degrees of inclusion and similarity of fuzzy quantities (fuzzy subsets of an interval of the real line).

A graph $Gamma$ is said to be vertex-transitive or edge‎- ‎transitive‎ ‎if the automorphism group of $Gamma$ acts transitively on $V(Gamma)$ or $E(Gamma)$‎, ‎respectively‎. ‎Let $Gamma=Cay(G,S)$ be a Cayley graph on $G$ relative to $S$‎. ‎Then, $Gamma$ is said to be normal edge-transitive‎, ‎if $N_{Aut(Gamma)}(G)$ acts transitively on edges‎. ‎In this paper‎, ‎the eigenvalues of normal edge-tra...

Anticipation plays a role in language comprehension. In this article, we explore the extent to which verb sense influences expectations about upcoming structure. We focus on change of state verbs like shatter, which have different senses that are expressed in either transitive or intransitive structures, depending on the sense that is used. In two experiments we influence the interpretation of ...
