A new lipase, LipEH166, isolated from an intertidal flat metagenome, showed no amino acid similarity to any known lipolytic enzyme except in the consensus region. This suggested that LipEH166 and its homologues belong to a new family of lipolytic enzymes. Partial characterization indicated that LipEH166 is a novel cold-adapted alkaline lipase.
Lipolytic injections are widely used in cosmetology practice. In most cases, they to correct the contours of body, as well reduce amount fat deposits submental area. Side effects after their use rare and, a rule, resolve themselves. However, case non-certified medications, frequency and severity complications increase sharply, which requires timely highly qualified therapy.

Screening of Bacillus subtilis strains capable producing extracellular hydrolases, including lipolytic enzyme was carried out. Within the scope this study, total 61 were isolated from various domestic specific environmental samples such as seawater, soil, Jeju ranch, hot spring, salt farm, and fermented food identified based on 16S rRNA sequences. Among isolates, 4 had lipase activity. The grow...
We had described that epidermal growth factor (EGF) interfered with the lipolytic effect of catecholamines in isolated adipocytes. Since catecholamines stimulate the release of EGF from submandibular salivary glands to blood plasma in male mice, we studied whether EGF affected also the lipolytic response to adrenaline in whole animals. We studied the effect of adrenaline in sialoadenectomized a...
BACKGROUND The demand for lipolytic injection therapies for aesthetic indications increases continuously. The substance most frequently discussed in this context is phosphatidylcholine solubilized in sodium deoxycholate, a composition known in Europe as Lipostabil (Artesan Pharma, Lüchow, Germany). The evidence for its lipolytic effect is based mainly on clinical studies that suggest a decrease...
Oxidative stress in adipose tissue plays an etiological role in a variety of obesity-related metabolic disorders. We previously reported that increased adipose tissue 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE) contents contributed to obesity-related plasma adiponectin decline in mice. In the present study, we investigated the effects of intracellular 4-HNE accumulation on lipolytic response in adipocytes/adipose...
The physiological mechanisms by which growth hormone (somatotropin) exerts its several metabolic activities remain poorly understood. In particular, there is disagreement as to whether the diabetogenic and lipolytic activities of the hormone are intrinsic properties of the molecule or are the result of contamination with other pituitary components. The availability of recombinant-DNA-derived bo...
Free fatty acids are important flavor compounds in cheese. Propionibacterium freudenreichii is the main agent of their release through lipolysis in Swiss cheese. Our aim was to identify the esterase(s) involved in lipolysis by P. freudenreichii. We targeted two previously identified esterases: one secreted esterase, PF#279, and one putative cell wall-anchored esterase, PF#774. To evaluate their...
