The development of lipopeptides (lipidated peptides) for vaccines is discussed, including their role as antigens and/or adjuvants. Distinct classes lipopeptide architectures are covered simple linear and ligated constructs lipid core peptides. design, synthesis, immunological responses the important class glycerol-based Toll-like receptor agonist such Pam3CSK4, which contains three palmitoyl ch...

The microbial ecology within the rhizosphere of Tylenchulus semipenetrans-infected Citrus L. trees was examined. Sixty bacterial strains were obtained from roots infected and eggs T. semipenetrans. Among these some agar plates two nematophagous fungi, Dactylellina gephyropaga (Drechsler) Ying Yang & Xing Z. Liu Arthrobotrys conoides Drechsler. Bacterial identified using 16S rDNA, gyrA rpoB gene...
The emergence of antibiotic resistant pathogens is one of the major medical concerns of the 21st century, prompting renewed interest in the development of novel antimicrobial compounds. Here we use microsecond-scale all-atom molecular dynamics simulations to characterize the structure, dynamics, and membrane-binding mechanism of a synthetic antimicrobial lipopeptide, C16-KGGK. Our simulations s...
BACKGROUND Toll-like receptor (TLR)-2/TLR1 heterodimers recognize bacterial lipopeptides and initiate the production of inflammatory mediators. Adaptors and co-receptors that mediate this process, as well as the mechanisms by which these adaptors and co-receptors function, are still being discovered. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Using shRNA, blocking antibodies, and fluorescent microscopy, ...
We report on the synthesis, biological function, and a plausible mode of action of a new group of lipopeptides with potent antifungal and antibacterial activities. These lipopeptides are derived from positively charged peptides containing d- and l-amino acids (diastereomers) that are palmitoylated (PA) at their N terminus. The peptides investigated have the sequence K(4)X(7)W, where X designate...
Lipopeptides produced by microorganisms are one of the five major classes of biosurfactants known and they have received much attention from scientific and industrial communities due to their powerful interfacial and biological activities as well as environmentally friendly characteristics. Microbially produced lipopeptides are a series of chemical structural analogues of different families and...
An efficient synthesis of the macrolactone core of the rakicidins is described. The rakicidins are cytotoxic lipopeptides with interesting cancer cell selectivities including HIF-1-independent hypoxia-selective cytotoxicity and anti-invasive activity. Access to the core may now allow establishment of preliminary SAR and exploration of routes to several members of rakicidins.
As one of the most effective biosurfactants reported to date, lipopeptides exhibit attractive surface and biological activities have great potential serve as biocatalysts. Low yield, high cost production, purification hinder large-scale applications lipopeptides. Utilization waste materials low-cost substrates for growth biosurfactant producers has emerged a feasible solution economical product...
