Mesoporous  MgO  microstructures  were  synthesized  using magnesium  acetate  tetrahydrate,  ammonium  oxalate  monohydrate and  Pluronic  F127  via  heating  at  40  °C  for  24  h  and  subsequent calcination. The mesoporous structure of magnesium oxide with the specific  surface  area  of  47m2 /g,  pore  volume  0.30  cm3 /g  and  the average pore size 24 nm is produced. According to ...

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotube and its hybrid nanotubes (with various metal oxides such as Ta2O5, Nb2O5, ZrO2, and SiO2) were fabricated by the sol-gel polymerization in the ethanol gels formed by simple L-lysine-based organogelator. The self-assembled nanofibers (gel fibers) formed by the gelator functioned as a template. The different calcination temperatures gave TiO2 nanotubes with variou...

Copper oxide (CuO) nanotubes were successfully converted from CuS nanowires embedded in anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template by annealing-induced diffusion in a confined tube-type space. The spreading of CuO and formation of CuO layer on the nanochannel surface of AAO, and the confinement offered by AAO nanochannels play a key role in the formation of CuO nanotubes.

Structural information for neutral magnesium oxide clusters has been obtained by a comparison of their experimental vibrational spectra with predictions from theory. (MgO)(n) clusters with n = 3-16 have been studied in the gas phase with a tunable IR-UV two-color ionization scheme and size-selective infrared spectra have been measured. These IR spectra are compared to the calculated spectra of ...

the present investigation attempted to develop the ceramic adsorbent media in order to remove the mercury from aqueous phase. two ceramics, akadama volcanic ash soil-ceramic (aceramic) and improved magnesium oxide impregnated akadama volcanic ash soil-ceramic (maceramic) were produced from raw akadama volcanic ash soil by heating process to determine the hg(ii) adsorption capacity. adsorption e...

A vanadium oxide-carbon nanotube composite was prepared by solution-based hydrolysis of NH4VO3 in the presence of carbon nanotubes. The carbon nanotubes induce the nucleation of the 1D vanadium oxide nanostructures, with the nuclei growing into long freestanding nanorods. The vanadium oxide nanorods with the lengths up to 20 μm and the widths of 5–15 nm exhibit a well-ordered crystalline struct...

The fabrication of cobalt oxide nanotubes (length 3-4 μm, width 200-400 nm) was achieved by a colloidal templating approach. In this approach, a Co(III)-cysteinato complex [Co(en)2(S-cys)]2(BF4) was employed as the precursor of cobalt oxide. The infiltration behavior of the precursor into polyelectrolyte multilayers was studied with a quartz crystal microbalance which showed that the amount of ...

The effects of confinement in carbon nanotubes on Fischer-Tropsch (FT) activity, selectivity and lifetime of Carbon NanoTubes (CNTs) supported iron catalysts are reported. A method was developed to control the position of the catalytic sites on either inner or outer surface of carbon nanotubes. TEM analyses revealed that more than 80% of iron oxide particles can be controlled to be position...
