Mycoplasma capricolum subspecies capricolum (Mcc) is one of the causative agents of contagious agalactia (CA), which is an important disease in sheep and goats in the Mediterranean and Middle East countries. Mycoplasma agalactiae is the classic agent of CA in sheep and goats. Mycoplasma mycoides subspecies Capri (Mmc), Mycoplasma capricolum subspecies capricolum (Mcc), and Mycoplasma putrefacie...
Mycoplasmosis caused by mycoplasma has immensely reduced the performance of commercial animal husbandry, along with prevalence and increase of drug resistance in mycoplasma, thus new agents and therapies are urgently needed. Triclosan is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent with a favorable safety profile. In the present study, we tested the antimycoplasmal activity of triclosan alone, as well ...
Background: Chlamydia trachomatis is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection in the world, but the effect of this infection on male fertility is still controversial. Despite reports of interaction between Mycoplasma genitalium and sperm, this pathogen in semen samples of infertile men is less studied. We studied, the prevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis and Mycoplasma genitalium...
i n a survey of pneumonia due to mycoplasma 282 out of 12168 ovine and caprine lung condemnation were collected (2.32%). mycoplasma spp. has been isolated from pneumonic cases in 4 sheep and 2 goats. pcr studies were confirmed the genus of mycoplasma although attempting for identification of strains m. mycoides, m. capricolum/caprine pleuropneumonia and m. arginin were in failure. the lesions i...
Avian mycoplasmosis is an important disease of poultry of great economic importance. It is caused by four (4) pathogenic mycoplasma species namely Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae, Mycoplasma meleagridis and Mycoplasma iowae; although other Mycoplasma species have also been incriminated in the disease. The disease causes cough, rales, ocular and nasal discharges, decreased feed int...
The draft genome sequence of a novel Mycoplasma strain, designated Mycoplasma sp. HU2014, has been determined. The genome comprises 1,084,927 nucleotides and was obtained from a mycoplasma-infected culture of chicken DT40 cells. Phylogenetic analysis places this taxon in a group comprising the closely related species Mycoplasma yeatsii and Mycoplasma cottewii.
Mycoplasma infection is a leading cause of pneumonia worldwide and can lead to other respiratory complications. A component of mycoplasma respiratory diseases is immunopathologic, suggesting that lymphocyte activation is a key event in the progression of these chronic inflammatory diseases. The present study delineates the changes in T cell populations and their activation after mycoplasma infe...

Abstract Background and objectives: Ureaplasma urealyticum is one of the most important causes of Nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) and non-specific urethritis (NSU) in men. Also Mycoplasma hominis has a role in causing NGU and NSU. The aim of this study was the detection of Mycoplasma hominis & Ureaplasma urealyticum in men suffering from NGU and NSU by prostatic massage method and first- void Ur...
Members of the "Mycoplasma mycoides cluster" represent important livestock pathogens worldwide. We report the genome sequence of Mycoplasma feriruminatoris sp. nov., the closest relative to the "Mycoplasma mycoides cluster" and the fastest-growing Mycoplasma species described to date.
