A novel electrocatalyst of layered MoS2 supported on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) decorated with nano-sized tungsten carbide (WC) shows an enhanced catalytic performance in the hydrogen evolution reaction, which could be attributed to the presence of a conductive and electrocatalytically-active nano-WC dispersant and the positive synergistic effect between nano-WC/RGO and layered MoS2.

Monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has recently attracted intense interests due to its remarkable optical properties of valley-selected optical response, strong nonlinear wave mixing and photocurrent/photovoltaic generation and many corresponding potential applications. However, the nature of atomic-thin thickness of monolayer MoS2 leads to inefficient light-matter interactions and thereby h...

In the present study, a hydro-refining spent catalyst with an alumina base has been taken into consideration. It is mostly used for the recovery of molybdenum. The spent catalyst constitutes around 21 pct of molybdenum as molybdenum oxide. The study has revealed that at temperature lower than 600C, it is possible to recover an appreciable quantity of molybdenum from the spent catalyst. The stat...

A non-precious metal electrocatalyst has been developed for the oxygen reduction reaction based on nanoporous molybdenum carbide (nano-Mo2C) wires through a facile calcination of sub-nanometer periodic organic-inorganic hybrid nanowires. The highly dispersed Mo2C wires were composed of 10-15 nm nanocrystals with a mesopore size of 3.3 nm. The properties of nano-Mo2C wires were characterized usi...

A broadband metamaterial absorber (MA) composed of hexagonal-arranged single-sized titanium nitride (TiN) nano-disk array and monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is studied using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations. The structure of TiN nano-disk array/dielectric silica (SiO2)/aluminum (Al) is adopted in our design. By optimizing the dimension parameters of the structure, an aver...

Molybdenum adsorption behavior was investigated on various crystalline and x-ray amorphous Al and Fe oxide minerals, clay minerals, CaC@, and arid-zone calcareous and noncalcareous s soils. Molybdenum adsorption on botb Al and Fe oxides exhibited a maximum at low pH extending to about pH 4 to 5. Above pH 5 adsorption decreased rapidly, with little adsorption occurring above pH 8. Molybdenum ads...

Oil palm ash (OPA), a bio-agricultural waste from oil palm mills, was subjected to high-energy ball milling for 30 h and was converted into a nano-structured material. The nano-structured OPA was characterized for its particle size and crystallinity index by using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis. The crystallite size obtained from TEM and XRD was foun...
