Nanosized TiO2 particles were prepared by sol–gel method. The TiO2 particles were co-deposited with chromium using electrodeposition technique. In investigating of coating surfaces by scanning electron microscope (SEM), the results showed that the morphology of the coating surface was changed by adding TiO2 nanoparticles to the chromium coating. The corrosion behavior of the coatings was assess...
Free-standing BiFeO3 perovskite particles with a size ranging from polycrystalline bulk down to 5 nm have been studied by high-energy resonant (Bi K edge) x-ray diffraction coupled to differential atomic pair distribution function analysis. Nanosized BiFeO3 particles are found to exhibit extra, i.e., beyond the usual thermal, structural disorder that increases progressively with diminishing the...
Single crystalline anatase TiO(2) rods with dominant reactive {010} facets are directly synthesized by hydrothermally treating Cs(0.68)Ti(1.83)O(4)/H(0.68)Ti(1.83)O(4) particles. The nanosized rods show a comparable conversion efficiency in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), and a superior photocatalytic conversion of CO(2) into methane to the benchmark P25 TiO(2) nanocrystals.
The increased application of nanomaterials has raised the level of public concern regarding possible toxicities caused by exposure to nanostructures. The interactions of nanosized hydroxyapatite (HA) with cytochrome c and hemoglobin were investigated by zeta-potential, UV-vis, fluorescence and circular dichroism. The experimental results indicated that the interactions were formed via charge at...
Engineered nanoscale materials provide tremendous promise for technological advancements; however, concerns have been raised about whether research of the possible health risks of these nanomaterials is keeping pace with products going to market. Research on nanomaterials, including carbon nanotubes, semiconductor crystals, and other ultrafine particles (i.e., titanium dioxide, quantum dots, ir...
1. Introduction Mesoporous materials are emerging as new drug delivery systems. Drug-loaded particles appear suitable for controlled release and drug targeting. These particles may have a potential as drug carriers because they could be able to enhance the bioavailibilty of poorly absorbed drugs, entailing a lowering of the therapeutic dose. These particles could also be efficient for entrappin...
objective:at the present study, relationship between phagocytosis of plga particles and combined effects of particle size and surface pegylation was investigated. materials and methods:microspheres and nanospheres (3500 nm and 700 nm) were prepared from three types of plga polymers (non-pegylated and pegylation percents of 9% and 15%). these particles were prepared by solvent evaporation metho...
The utilization of self-microemulsifying premicroemulsion systems (SMEPMS) as templates for preparing poorly water-soluble compounds in the nanosized range represents a promising strategy. Fenofibrate was formulated with n-butyl L-lactate, Tween 80, and a number of cosurfactants (ethanol, 1-propanol, and PEG 600), diluted with the water phase (either water or saccharide solution) and then subje...
We demonstrate optical trapping and manipulation of aerosols with an optical bottle beam generated by the moiré techniques. We observe stable trapping and back-and-forth transportation of a variety of absorbing carbon particles suspended in air, ranging from clusters of nanosized buckminsterfullerene C₆₀ to micrometer-sized carbon powders.
