Two quantum finite automata are equivalent if for all input string ω over the input alphabet the two automata accept ω with equal probability. In [Theoret. Comput. Sci. 410 (2009) 3006-3017], it was shown that a k1-letter QFA A1 and a k2-letter QFA A2 over Σ = {σ}, are equivalent if and only if they are (n1 + n2) 4 + k − 1-equivalent where ni is the number of states of Ai, i = 1, 2, and k = max...

The preparation and spectroscopic characterization of a CO-inhibited [FeFe] hydrogenase with a selectively (57)Fe-labeled binuclear subsite is described. The precursor [(57)Fe2(adt)(CN)2(CO)4](2-) was synthesized from the (57)Fe metal, S8, CO, (NEt4)CN, NH4Cl, and CH2O. (Et4N)2[(57)Fe2(adt)(CN)2(CO)4] was then used for the maturation of the [FeFe] hydrogenase HydA1 from Chlamydomonas reinhardti...

Let the light shine through: A transparent film of copper nanowires was transformed into an electrocatalyst for water oxidation by electrodepostion of Ni or Co onto the surface of the nanowires. These core-shell nanowire networks exhibit electrocatalytic performance equivalent to metal oxide films of similar composition, but are several times more transparent.

InrS is a Ni(II)-responsive, CsoR/RcnR-like, DNA-binding transcriptional repressor of the nrsD gene, but the Ni(II) co-ordination sphere of InrS is unlike Ni(II)-RcnR. We show that copper and Zn(II) also bind tightly to InrS and in vitro these ions also impair InrS binding to the nrsD operator-promoter. InrS does not respond to Zn(II) (or copper) in vivo after 48 h, when Zn(II) sensor ZiaR resp...

The authors show, by means of a finitary version fin λ,D of the combinatorial principle b ∗ λ of [6], the consistency of the failure, relative to the consistency of supercompact cardinals, of the following: for all regular filters D on a cardinal λ, if Mi and Ni are elementarily equivalent models of a language of size ≤ λ, then the second player has a winning strategy in the Ehrenfeucht-Fräıssé...

Reduced equivalent series resistance (ESR) is necessary, particularly at a high current density, for high performance supercapacitors, and the interface resistance between the current collector and electrode material is one of the main components of ESR. In this report, we have optimized chemical vapor deposition-grown graphene (CVD-G) on a current collector (Ni-foil) using reduced graphene oxi...

Abstract Let $\Gamma $ be a finite set, and $X\ni x$ fixed kawamata log terminal germ. For any lc germ $(X\ni x,B:=\sum _{i} b_iB_i)$ , such that $b_i\in \Gamma Nakamura’s conjecture, which is equivalent to the ascending chain condition conjecture for minimal discrepancies germs, predicts there always exists prime divisor E over $a(E,X,B)=\mathrm {mld}(X\ni x,B)$ $a(E,X,0)$ bounded from above. ...

Anthropogenic activities, and in particular the use of synthetic nitrogen (N) fertilizer, have doubled global annual reactive N inputs in the past 50-100 years, causing deleterious effects on the environment through increased N leaching and nitrous oxide (N2 O) and ammonia (NH3 ) emissions. Leaching and gaseous losses of N are greatly controlled by the net rate of microbial nitrification. Exten...

The reaction of (μ-Cl)2Ni2(NHC)2 (NHC = 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-imidazol-2-ylidene (IPr) or 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazolidin-2-ylidene (SIPr)) with either one equivalent of sodium cyclopentadienyl (NaCp) or lithium indenyl (LiInd) results in the formation of diamagnetic NHC supported Ni(I) dimers of the form (μ-Cp)(μ-Cl)Ni2(NHC)2 (NHC = IPr (1 a) or SIPr (1 b); C...

The hydrogenolysis of ethane has been investigated on clean and Ni-covered Pt( 1 1 1) at reactant partial pressures between 0.5 and 4 Torr of ethane and between 80 and 270 Torr of hydrogen and for surface temperatures from 550 to 640 K. On clean Pt( 1 1 1) the hydrogenolysis reaction proceeds with an activation energy of 36.6 kcal/mol and reaction orders in C2H6 and H2 pressures of 1 and -1.8, ...
