The obtained Q0 value of a superconducting niobium cavity is known to depend on various factors like the RRR of the Niobium material, crystallinity, chemical treatment history, the high-pressure rinsing process, or effectiveness of the magnetic shielding. We have observed that spatial thermal gradients over the cavity length during cool-down appear to contribute to a degradation of Q0. Measurem...

The electro-deoxidation of metal oxides has been presented as an alternative to the pyro- and electro-metallurgical techniques generally used create metals alloys. However, previous research concentrated on employing chronoamperometric analyse cathodic reactions, ignoring important information reduction processes. In this work, we examine using several DC voltammetric techniques, including cons...

Nowadays, the synthesis of biofuels from renewable raw materials is very popular. Among various challenges involved in improving these processes, environmentally benign catalysts compatible with an inexpensive feedstock have become more important. Herein, we report recent advances achieved development Niobium-containing heterogeneous as well their use routes to produce biodiesel. The efficiency...

The metal-rich intermetallic compounds NblrSi, NblrGe, and TalrSi were synthesized by arc-melting of the elements and subsequent annealing in glassy carbon crucibles in a high-frequency furnace. The three compounds were investigated by X-ray diffraction on powders and single crystals: TiNiSi type, Pnma, a = 641.27(3), b = 379.48(2), c = 727.70(3) pm, wR2 = 0.0773, 430 F 2 values for NblrSi, a =...

INTRODUCTION Treatment of osteoporotic fractures is still challenging and an urgent need exists for new materials, better adapted to osteoporotic bone by adjusted Young's modulus, appropriate surface modification and pharmaceuticals. MATERIALS AND METHODS Titanium-40-niobium alloys, mechanically ground or additionally etched and titanium-6-aluminium-4-vanadium were analyzed in combination wit...

Isostructural vanadium, niobium and tantalum complexes of bis(3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-phenol)amine ([ONO]H3), were prepared and characterized to evaluate the impact of the metal ion on redox-activity of the ligand platform. New vanadium and niobium complexes with the general formula, [ONO]MCl2L (M = V, L = THF, 1-V; M = Nb, L = Et2O, 1-Nb) were prepared and structurally analysed by X-ray crystallog...

Due to the ongoing improvement in nanostructuring technology, ultrathin metallic nanofilms have recently gained substantial attention in plasmonics, e.g. as building blocks of metasurfaces. Typically, noble metals such as silver or gold are the materials of choice, due to their excellent optical properties, however they also possess some intrinsic disadvantages. Here, we introduce niobium nanof...

The size of photochemically-prepared niobium nanoparticles (NbNP) can be controlled by varying the concentration of the photoinitiator in the reaction mixture. The particles, which may be metallic in nature, are readily oxidized upon air exposure to form stable niobium(v) oxide nanoparticles (NbONP) that act as strong Brønsted acids.

At CERN a compact Quadrupole Resonator has been developed for the RF characterization of superconducting samples at different frequencies. In this contribution measurements on bulk niobium and niobium film on copper samples are presented. Surface resistance results are being correlated to surface analyses measurements carried out on the same samples.

In this paper we show a very simple route for the incorporation of catalytically active niobium species on the surface of carbon materials, such as graphene oxide, carbon nanotubes and activated carbon. Some existing methods of incorporating a transition metal on a support have involved co-precipitation or wet impregnation, to obtain the corresponding oxides. These methods, however, cause reduc...
