Nitrogen-doped (N-doped) graphene has been prepared by a simple one-step hydrothermal approach using hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) as single carbon and nitrogen source. In this hydrothermal process, HMTA pyrolyzes at high temperature and the N-doped graphene subsequently self-assembles on the surface of MgO particles (formed by the Mg powder reacting with H2O) during which graphene synthesis an...

A facile synthesis of 3-6 nm, water dispersible, near-infrared (NIR) emitting, quantum dots (QDs) magnetically doped with Fe is presented. Doping of alloyed CdTeS nanocrystals with Fe was achieved in situ using a simple hydrothermal method. The magnetic quantum dots (MQDs) were capped with NAcetyl-Cysteine (NAC) ligands, containing thiol and carboxylic acid functional groups to provide stable a...

Photocatalysis is an ecofriendly and sustainable pathway for utilizing solar energy to convert organic molecules. In this context, using light responsive graphene-based materials C–N bond activation coenzyme regeneration (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrogen; NADH) one of the utmost important challenging tasks in century. Herein, we report synthesis nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (N...

Material that can emit broad spectral wavelengths covering deep ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared is highly desirable. It can lead to important applications such as broadband modulators, photodetectors, solar cells, bioimaging, and fiber communications. However, there is currently no material that meets such desirable requirement. Here, we report the layered structure of nitrogen-doped gr...

We demonstrate a controlled growth of nitrogen-doped graphene layers by liquid precursor based chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique. Nitrogen-doped graphene was grown directly on Cu current collectors and studied for its reversible Li-ion intercalation properties. Reversible discharge capacity of N-doped graphene is almost double compared to pristine graphene due to the large number of sur...

The current study both synthesizes and uses four compounds of graphene oxide (GO), nitrogen doped graphene oxide (ND-GO), high nitrogen doped graphene oxide (HND-GO), and three dimensional high nitrogen doped graphene oxide (3D-HND-GO) in order to remove a model anionic dye, Congo red (CR) from wastewaters. It also compares their carbon nano-structure, with regard to removal efficiency and find...

A novel strategy to synthesize nitrogen (N) and sulfur (S)-doped graphene (G) is developed through sulfate-reducing bacteria treating graphene oxide (GO). The N, S-doped G demonstrates significantly improved electrocatalytic properties and electrochemical sensing performances in comparison with single-doped graphene due to the synergistic effects of dual dopants on the properties of graphene.

The synthesis of water-soluble nitrogen-doped carbon dots has received great attention, due to their wide applications in oxygen reduction reaction, cell imaging, sensors, and drug delivery. Herein, nitrogen-doped, carbon-rich, highly photoluminescent carbon dots have been synthesized for the first time from ammonium citrate under hydrothermal conditions. The obtained nitrogen-doped carbon dots...
